The Kansas City Royals have signed infielder Miguel Tejada to a minor-league deal, the team announced. Dionisio Soldevila of the Associated Press notes that the deal is worth $1.1mm with an additional $400k in performance bonuses and will become an Major league deal once a roster spot opens up. Tejada signed a minor-league deal with the Orioles last May, but was quickly released in late June at his request. During that time, he played for the Orioles Triple-A club where he hit .260/.327/.290 with 18 RBI's and a .617 OPS in 147 plate appearances. Tejada also told the Associated Press (via ESPN.com), “I'm very pleased with this. The contract with the Royals is a done deal. I'm going to try to help this team and their younger players. I'm so happy because this is what I was aiming for, a chance to get back to the majors.“I believe I can be valuable for Kansas City in different facets.” Image taken  by Keith Allison and used under the Creative Commons License.
