Felipe Paulino is not on the disabled list -- at least not yet -- but he is also not in Pittsburgh with the rest of the Royals. While the Royals were losing 4-2 Friday night to the Pirates, Paulino was in Kansas City getting treatment on his strained right groin. Paulino left his Wednesday start against the Twins after two-thirds of an inning. He hurt the groin while backing up third base after Justin Morneau flied out. With an off day Thursday and another idle day Monday, Paulino is now scheduled to start Tuesday against the Milwaukee Brewers. Whether Paulino makes that start remains up in the air. "We're still evaluating," Royals general manager Dayton Moore said. "I'm optimistic." Moore said, "I'm keeping my fingers crossed," that Paulino won't have to go on the disabled list. Manager Ned Yost acknowledged Friday there was a high degree of probability Paulino would miss his start. Luis Mendoza would be the probable starter...

Wil Myers Deserves to Join the Royals Soon

Wil Myers is continuing his stint with the Storm Chasers on a blistering pace (.321 AVG, 8 HRs, 22 RBIs, .703 Slugging). The 21 year old outfielder has been abusing opposing pitchers all season long and last night was no different. Myers sent a 2-0 pitch into the left field seats for a grand slam against none other than Roy Oswalt. It was apparent last year that Myers still had some...
NOT FUNNY

KC catcher's poor sense of humor

During a throwback game against the Pirates, Royals catcher Humberto Quintero decided to remind us about the bad things of yesteryear when he pulled off a very un-funny stunt.

Free Wil Myers? Not So Fast…

Even though Wil Myers is currently tearing the cover off the ball in the minor leagues, the need to make the move to bring him up currently is not there. While Myers stats show he is very capable of handling the pitching at the Triple A level with his triple slash at .321/.369/.718 with 8 home runs and 22 RBI's. The big issue, and this is a good thing, is that Jeff Francouer...

Royals agree to terms with first-round pick

The Kansas City Royals today announced the club has signed first-round draft choice Kyle Zimmer, the fifth overall selection in the 2012 First-Year Player Draft. Consistent with team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed. The 20-year-old Zimmer, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound right-handed starter, went 5-3 with a 2.85 ERA in 13 starts, including three complete games, for the...

An open letter to Royals Management and Fox Sports KC

Please put Jeff Montgomery and Ryan Lebfevre in the television broadcast booth full time. While everyone knows the hub bub about Rex Hudler and his analogies for three year olds who do not know baseball, the broadcast on Friday June 8th in Pittsburgh was the best television broadcast that I have sat through this season. It was informative and Montgomery and Lebfevre worked very well...

Paulino hits disabled list again

Kansas City right-hander Felipe Paulino is on the disabled list for the second time this season and the fifth time since 2008. Paulino, who began the season on the disabled list with a right forearm strain, returned Saturday to the disabled list with a strained right groin. He was activated April 30 and went 3-1 with a 1.67 ERA in seven starts. Paulino, however, left in the first...

Royals need Butler's bat, so they will give him a glove

When the Royals opened interleague road games last year, designated hitter Billy Butler was on the bench. That won't be the case Friday night, when the Royals play at Pittsburgh. Butler will be at first base and first baseman Eric Hosmer will move to right field, making his major league debut as an outfielder, although he played a few innings there in spring training. Jeff...

Mike Moustakas misses first base, misses out on double (Video)

Kansas City Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas missed the bag when rounding first base on a hit that was mishandled by Pittsburgh Pirates center fielder Andrew McCutchen during Saturday night's game at PNC Park. Instead of what should have been extra bases, Moustakas had to settle for a single. It happened in the top of the fifth inning when Moustakas had a base hit...

Here’s to you Mr. Robinson

With inter league play about to be in full swing the Kansas City Royals seem to be in a pretty good position to make a move in the later part of the month of June. With scheduled off days in the right spots Ned Yost will not have to worry about filling out a 5 man rotation for a few weeks, a luxury for him since not everyone has been up to par on the mound lately. The one snag that...

Royals Begin 15-Game Stretch Against NL

Interleague play is coming to a baseball stadium near you, bringing all the anomalies that come with it. The natural rivalries are fantastic to watch and great for bragging rights; trust me, I love, but also dread playing the St. Louis Cardinals, a topic we'll dive into that once the I-70 series rolls around. AL pitchers are taking hacks at the plate, different strategies are...
