Kansas City on Friday signed Zach Miner to a minor league deal, hoping the former Tigers right-hander can contribute next season after missing all of 2010 with an elbow injury. Miner, 28, has a 25-20 record and 4.24 ERA in 157 major league games, 35 of them starts. He held down a hybrid role for the Tigers from 2006-09, working mostly out of the bullpen the last three years while also starting as needed. He began experiencing elbow problems in spring training in 2010 and tried to treat it through rehab but ultimately had to undergo Tommy John surgery in late May. Based on the usual timetable, he could be ready to pitch at some point next spring training. Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments
