Yeah, yeah, let’s talk about yet another struggling Mets’ regular. We have already discussed the struggles of Ike Davis, Lucas Duda and John Buck, so it’s time we focus on another staple of the Mets’ lineup in Ruben Tejada. In the early parts of the season, it was Tejada’s defense that had some fans nervous, but since May and perhaps with the temperature rising, Tejada’s glove has been steady ever since. No, we’re here to talk about his offense. Just like Davis, Tejada has been a shell of his former self. For the last couple of years, Tejada proved to be a steady bat. While he is no world beater, Tejada was more than adequate,  hitting .289 last year and a .284 in 2011. Mets Appealing Harvey Earned Run, Want Tejada Charged With Error

According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, the Mets are appealing to Major League Baseball to slice Matt Harvey‘s ERA from 1.55 to 1.41, which would be within one point of the major league lead shared Clayton Kershaw and Shelby Miller. Adam says that the thrust of the argument is that there should have been a straight error on Ruben Tejada‘s throw that bounced past Ike Davis and...

Mets Weighing Ike Davis Demotion

If, and when, the Mets demote Ike Davis, it shouldn’t be interpreted as the franchise giving up on him. It should be looked at as tough love, that they are doing what is in the best interests of themselves and their frustrated slugger. The Mets must make this decision, whether he’s the future or not. If he is the future, then the Mets must make him right. If he’s not the future...

Internal Discussions Of Ike Davis Demotion ‘Intensifying’

Discussions of demoting Ike Davis have intensified within the Mets organization says Adam Rubin of ESPNNewYork.com. Although the Mets slumping first baseman snapped his 0-for-24 streak yesterday, he may only have until the end of this weekend series in Chicago before the Amazin’s ship Ike off to Vegas. Rubin cites the use of Andrew Brown at first base Friday for the Las Vegas 51s–the...

Featured Post: If At First You Don’t Succeed, Try Again In The Minors

There has been much talk and speculation recently about the possible demotion of Ike Davis to the minors.  Such discussion is certainly warranted considering Davis’ performance over the first 40 games of the season. The Mets’ struggling first baseman is hitting .156 with four homers and nine RBI.  His on-base percentage is an unhealthy .238 and his .259 slugging percentage...

Mets Wrap: Jon Niese Shines In Win Over Cards

Four more strikeouts from Ike Davis, another boneheaded play from Jordany Valdespin, and another lumbering Met thrown out trying to steal, and yet The Boys From Flushing beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 5-2, today to snap a six-game losing streak. The reasons were mostly Jon Niese’s strong performance of working into the eighth inning and four hits from Daniel Murphy. NIESE: Breaks...
