Found June 14, 2013 on NESN.com:
Ryan Dempster has allowed three runs or fewer in each of his last four starts. Unfortunately for the veteran, though, he has only been able to take home a win in two of them. He was handed a hard-luck loss again Friday night, when the Red Sox dropped a 2-0 decision to the Baltimore Orioles. Dempster allowed just two runs over his 7 2/3 innings of work, but O’s starter Chris Tillman‘s line was cleaner. Tillman tossed six scoreless frames to improve his record to 7-2 on the season. Hear what Dempster had to say after the game in the video above.

Ryan Dempster Battles Hard, Gives Red Sox Very Important Start Despite Another Loss to Orioles

Ryan Dempster gave the Red Sox everything they needed — except for a win. Dempster, whose season has been a mixed bag thus far, allowed just two runs, and, more importantly, pitched into the eighth inning in a 2-0 loss to the Orioles on Friday. He was ultimately outpitched by Chris Tillman and three others in the losing effort, but we shouldn’t lose sight of his start’s importance...

Jacoby Ellsbury Is Quietly 'Stealing The Show'

Getty ImagesDon't look now, but Jacoby Ellsbury's 30 stolen bases have him tied for the major-league lead. The Padres' Evereth Cabrera (who, by the way, has been linked to the Florida PED clinic) also has 30 thefts this year. Last night, Ellsbury's streak of 18 consecutive steals was broken by Baltimore's Matt Wieters—but his other streak (steals in six consecutive...

Red Sox’ Mike Napoli leaves with illness

Boston Red Sox first baseman Mike Napoli exited last night’s game against the Baltimore Orioles due to illness. Manager John Farrell told Evan Drellich of Mass Live that it was a lot of general nausea that Napoli experienced, adding that the slugger is expected back in Boston’s lineup today. "General illness, felt a lot of nausea after the double, heavy humidity...

Mike Napoli Exits Game Against Orioles Because of Illness

Mike Napoli is apparently feeling under the weather. Napoli, who started Thursday’s game at first base, was replaced by Mike Carp before the start of the bottom of the third inning. The Red Sox have since announced that Napoli exited because of illness. Napoli doubled against Orioles starter Kevin Gausman in the second inning, but nothing stuck out while he ran the bases. He later...

Orioles' Nolan Reimold, Wei-Yin Chen to begin rehab stints soon

Baltimore Orioles' outfielder Nolan Reimold and starting pitcher Wei-Yin Chen are both progressing past their injuries and hope to begin minor league rehab stints by next week. According to Dan Connolly from the Baltimore Sun, Reimold could join Baltimore's Double-A affiliate, the Bowie Baysox, for a rehab assignment when the Orioles go on the road June 17th to face...

Red Sox push back Clay Buchholz’s start

Clay Buchholz’s Sunday start against the Baltimore Orioles has been in question since the right-hander exited his last appearance early due to a neck injury. Yesterday, the Boston Red Sox opted to continue playing it safe with Buchholz, as manager John Farrell told reporters – including JeffSeidel and Teddy Cahill of MLB.com – that the right-hander’s next start would ...

Jose Iglesias Starts at Shortstop, Mike Carp Gets Nod at First Against Orioles

Jose Iglesias has been used primarily at third base during his most recent major league call-up, but he’ll get the start at his natural position, shortstop, when the Red Sox take on the Orioles in Baltimore on Friday. Iglesias — promoted from Pawtucket when Will Middlebrooks went on the disabled list in late May — has performed well enough to merit an extended stint with the...

Shane Victorino Back in Lineup As Red Sox Open Series Against Orioles

After spending Wednesday as a pinch runner and defensive replacement for Mike Carp, Shane Victorino is back in the lineup on Thursday as the Red Sox open a series against the Orioles in Baltimore. Felix Doubront has a nice matchup against the Birds, as their best hitters, Chris Davis, Adam Jones and Manny Machado, are all better against righties. J.J. Hardy and Nate McLouth have...

Chris Davis rescues O's in 13th

Chris Davis singled home the tiebreaking run with two outs in the 13th inning, giving the Baltimore Orioles an exhausting 5-4 victory over the Boston Red Sox in the opener of a four-game series between AL East contenders. Danny Valencia homered for the Orioles, who moved into second place and within 2 1/2 games of Boston. Baltimore won despite leaving 16 on base and going 4 for...

Why David Ortiz is a Better DH than Edgar Martinez

David Ortiz undoubtedly celebrating a spectacular hit. (Photo credit) The year 1973 was a very important one for comedic television. It was the year Dave Chappelle, Seth MacFarlane, Neil Patrick Harris, and Jim Parsons were born. Without them, television as we know it would be a duller place. But another improvement was also born that year that would impact the future of television...

Jarrod Saltalamacchia Given Night Off After Grind of Two Extra-Inning Contests (Video)

Extra-inning games wear down all ballplayers, but none feel the impact of free baseball quite like catchers. The Red Sox have gone deep into extras twice this week, and Jarrod Saltalamacchia was behind the plate for all 27 innings. Manager John Farrell gave Salty the night off Friday in Baltimore, and NESN’s Jenny Dell caught up with the catcher to talk the effect playing five...

Red Sox – Rays, The New Red Sox – Yankees?

As Boston sports fans are still recovering from the gut wrenching loss the Bruins took last night in Game One of the Stanley Cup Finals, the Red Sox did complete a series with the Tampa Bay Rays last night.  In a spot start Alfredo Aceves only gave up one run in six innings of work in a 2-1 Red Sox win while Andrew Bailey got the save.  I for one will admit I was wrong when I said...

Chris Davis Threatening Miguel Cabrera for Triple Crown As Dangerous Orioles Welcome Red Sox to Baltimore

When the most recent AL MVP betting odds were released, Tigers star Miguel Cabrera was the even-money favorite. That makes sense as Cabrera potentially could be the first player ever to win back-to-back Triple Crowns. The second-favorite was Baltimore first baseman Chris Davis at 3-1, and he’s making his own Triple Crown case. The lefty slugger trails only Cabrera in batting average...

Four Real? Red Sox vs Orioles 6-15-13

Game 70: Slow start, big win for Sox.               Pete Lepak      RedSoxLife.com Staff Writer Sometimes, we watch a baseball game and think too much like a fan; we hold our collective breaths during each pitch, hoping for a strikeout or a homerun, swearing at the TV when the game doesn't go the Red Sox's way. I am that kind of fan. I have never called the Red...
