Found September 15, 2012 on Lady At The Bat:
In an article I read over a year ago CC Sabathia talked about his ongoing struggle to stay at a healthy weight.  I no longer remember the particulars about the article and I don't have the exact quote from CC but, to paraphrase, he said something to like this:"When I'm pitching well, I'm a good size. When I'm not pitching well, I'm too big."CC has not pitched well this season. There has been talk about his elbow still hurting and his velocity going down. His latest loss, last night to the Tampa Bay Rays, finally brought the weight critics out. Early this morning on WFAN radio here in New York, he was portrayed by the host and callers alike as having gained a ton of weight this season, and that it, more than anything else, was the reason he has pitched so poorly. But is this really accurate? I don't think so. Maybe it's just me. Maybe I have blinders on, but I don't think CC Sabathia has gained any weight this season. He lost weight last off-s...

(Photo credit: Wikipedia) Ohhhh yes, the New York Yankees are back in first place all by their lonesome after beating the Rays 5-3, which is great news but there is more. Rumor has it, via the NY Post, that speedster Brett Gardner has run the bases and practiced...

Struggling Sabathia loses third straight decision

CC Sabathia takes pride in being the unquestioned ace of the Yankees' pitching staff, but his answer was telling when asked Friday for his thoughts about injured starters Ivan Nova (shoulder) and Andy Pettitte (ankle) returning to the rotation in games Saturday and Tuesday, respectively. "Hopefully they can help us out, because I haven't been," said Sabathia...

Yankees Game 144 Lineup: 9/15/12

Nova needs a win to boost his own confidence, as well as the Yankees as the season winds down Once again the ace in the Bronx failed to produce a quality start for the club, resulting in another loss for C.C. Sabathia, three straight, and another opportunity for the Yankees to pull ahead in the division wasted. Luckily for them though, the Orioles missed out on the same chance losing...

Alex Rodriguez Gets Caught Off Guard By Robinson Cano's Quasi-Man Hug (Video)

Robinson Cano has been known to be a jokester. It's very rare to find the Yankees second baseman without a smile on his face. During New York's three-game series at Fenway Park, the cameras caught Cano cheesing and messing around with Alex Rodriguez. The slugger surprised Rodriguez from behind in the middle of the game, giving him a quasi-man hug in the Yankees dugout. The...

I'm sure everyone has heard of the Taiwanese animations that roll out every so often when there's a significant news event in America. Well, a new one just came out, and it goes after...the New York Yankees? In this video, the Yankees pending collapse is discussed. Eduardo Nunez settles for single after ball hits umpire (Video)

New York Yankees shortstop Eduardo Nunez had to settle for a single after his hard hit down the third base line hit third base umpire Jerry Meals during Friday night's game at Yankee Stadium against the Tampa Bay Rays. It happened in the bottom of the fifth inning, and the hit by Nunez would have rolled into left field and given him a double had the ball not hit Meals and...

Nova, homers lead Yankees past Rays, 5-3

NEW YORK -- The New York Yankees are in a much tighter race than once expected, but they gave themselves a boost Saturday by showing some of the traits that once built a 10-game lead in the AL East. Ivan Nova returned from the disabled list with a strong start, the Yankees hit a couple of home runs and picked up some timely hits and the bullpen shut down the Tampa Bay Rays for...

Yankees 6, Rays 4

Russell Martin's three-run homer highlighted an eventful early burst and the New York Yankees kept their AL East lead, holding off Tampa Bay 6-4 Sunday and ending a most damaging road trip for the Rays. The Yankees won the last two in the three-game series. They began the day with a one-game division lead over Baltimore, which later played at Oakland. Minus ejected manager...

Oh, Doctor: Pads to unveil statue of Coleman

After graduating from high school in 1942, Jerry Coleman traveled three days by train from San Francisco to Wellsville, N.Y., to report to the New York Yankees' Class D affiliate. Still 17, he was too young to enlist and fight in World War II, so he got to spend the summer playing ball. It was the start of his 70 years in pro baseball, a career that included four World Series...

Still looking for Explanations

I listened to the Yankees/Orioles game last Saturday as it happened. You know, the one where Mark Teixeira grounded into a double play to end the game where he was clearly safe.   I went back and watched that 9th inning about ten times. Obviously, you only have to watch see that play once. The ball is five feet away from Mark Reynolds when Teixeira touches first.  By the time the...

Taiwan Animation Says Yankees Are Done, Attacks C.C. With Fishing Net

Taiwan’s Next Media Animation has really gone above and beyond with their latest effort, calmly titled, “New York Yankees 2012 season goes off the rails”. Taiwan Animation generally sticks to recapping major stories with a keen sarcastic eye for the absurdity of truth, but now they’re in the predictions game, and that game includes saying C.C. Sabathia has gained so much...
