Yusmeiro Petit has been with five major league clubs. He has been in and out of the majors throughout his career. Prior to signing with the San Franciso Giants prior to the 2012 season he was out of the league all together and playing in a Mexican league.
He has a career ERA over 5.0 and a win/loss record of 12-20, and nearly joined the ranks of baseball immortality by throwing a perfect game Friday night.
He managed to take it into the final inning, and after Chris Owings struck out and Gerardo Parra grounded out to second only Eric Chavez stood between Petit and a perfect game.
And then he had to go and hit a single to right field.
