Max Scherzer is starting to make things look easy.
Coming off a 75-pitch one-hit performance in six innings in his last outing Scherzer extended his shutout streak Saturday night.
Scherzer allowed just three hits and no runs in 7.2 innings fueling the Tigers’ 3-0 victory over the White Sox and dazzling a sellout crowd of 43906 at Comerica Park on Saturday.
The Tigers picked up their seventh straight win and 11th in their last 12 games to stay three games ahead of the red-hot Indians and 7.5 in front of the charging Royals.
“The thing I like the most is we got 16 wins when he pitches — that’s the best tonic there is. He’s done a terrific job for us” manager Jim Leyland said. “The one good thing about our club is we go out each and every day knowing we put a good pitcher out there.
“If you gut it out and tough it out every day day in and day out you have a chance and they feel really good about the pitcher we put out there on a daily basis.”
