Tommy Milone pitched seven strong innings, but it wasn’t enough for the A’s to take down the White Sox on Saturday afternoon, as they dropped the third game of the series 4-1. The problem Oakland ran into in the game was Chicago starter John Danks – the lefty dominated the A’s offense all afternoon long. After giving up a run in the first inning, Danks gave up nothing else while he was on the mound, leaving after eight. Milone practically matched Danks pitch-for-pitch, ultimately going seven strong and throwing a career-high 118 pitches. He left after the seventh, giving way for Sean Doolittle – and that’s when things unraveled. Doolittle’s rough stretch continued, as he gave up three hits in four batters, including a go-ahead RBI single from Alex Rios. A two-run home run to Paul Konerko extended Chicago’s lead to 4-1, effectively putting the game on ice.
