Everybody Makes Mistakes
Young right-hander Zach McAllister went out and made some mistakes, but overall had a quality start stats-wise as he was only charged with two runs in six innings of work despite giving up four. However, the two unearned runs he gave up due to a fielding error at third base by Mike Aviles is not a new problem for McAllister as he struggled with pitching around errors last season as well. In 2012, McAllister gave up a league-leading 19 unearned runs in 22 starts. Whether it’s mental or just bad luck, McAllister needs to find a way to relax and keep his focus when his defense lets him down.
