Florida State got all the runs they needed in the third inning and then got stellar pitching from Daniel Bennett and Mike McGee to hold off #1 Florida 5-3.
The Seminoles got their first hit of the game in the top of the third inning when Justin Gonzalez lined a single to center. Devon Travis the smacked a ground ball just inside the third base line for a double.
After Sherman Johnson popped out, McGee walked to load the bases.
That was enough for Kevin O’Sullivan pulling starter Tommy Toledo who was having accuracy problems with his pitches bringing in lefty Alex Panteliodis.
James Ramsey welcomed him to the mound by hitting a hard ground ball that ricochet off Panteliodis’ ankle and caromed into foul territory on the first base side. 1B Brian Johnson flipped the ball to Panteliodis trying to cover first but could not handle the toss. Ramsey was safe moving to second on the error scoring Gonzalez and Travis.
The next batter, Jayce Boyd, cranked a long fly ball all the way to the lef...
