A Senate seat in Massachusetts was just opened by the death of a 70-something Democrat who spent his life serving as a career politician and hailed from one of the country's most storied political families. Now one of the possible candidates to run for the vacancy is a 40-something Republican who used to play baseball and hails from one of the country's most storied baseball teams? According to ex-Red Sox pitcher Curt Schilling(notes), he was recently "contacted" by sources he would not divulge and asked if he had any interest in running for the Senate seat that was left empty by the death of Ted Kennedy last week.
