The Miami Marlins picked up their 30th win of the season with a 5-4 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday. The win kept Miami one game behind the first place Washington Nationals in the National League East. The win also gives the Marlins a chance to keep their unbeaten streak in series alive if they win on Sunday. The Marlins are 7-0-3 in their last ten series.
Ricky Nolasco went seven innings to earn his sixth win of the season. Those six wins currently lead the Marlins’ staff as the franchise leader in wins continued to add to his record. Nolasco allowed four runs on eight hits while striking out five and walking two. The Phillies scored a run in each of the first three innings and then did not add another until the eighth. Steve Cishek took over for Nolasco with runners at the corners and nobody out. One run would come home to score but Cishek worked around the jam and struck two out to earn his sixth hold.
