The Orioles host the Dodgers at Oriole Park at Camden Yards for 3 games this weekend in the Dodgers first interleague series of the season.
The Dodgers come into Baltimore with nothing seeming to go right lately.
The pitching staff is getting beaten up both on the mound and on the disabled list, with Chris Capuano joining Zack Greinke on the 15 Day DL. Ted Lilly will come up to replace him, but we won’t see Lilly on the hill until some time next week against the Mets.
Meanwhile, the Dodgers continue to fail to push across runs. The team left 14 on base against San Diego on Wednesday night, and managed to score only 8 runs off the Padres while allowing 22.
The Orioles have cooled themselves after a hot start. At 8-7 and 3 games back of the division-leading Boston Red Sox, the Orioles have managed to display some prowess with the bat. Chris Davis hit 4 homers in the first 4 games of the season and has added 2 since to lead all Orioles hitters with 6. Adam Jones paces the team with a .375 batting average. The Orioles bullpen has some strong performers, but no member of the starting rotation has an ERA over 4.
After an off day to travel, the 7-8 Dodgers will look to try to make a fresh start of it in Baltimore and try to get their offense going. The addition of the DH to the lineup for this series might help to add a bit more offense and hopefully push across some of the runners that get in scoring position.
Game 1 is tonight at 4:05 p.m. Los Angeles time and features the Dodgers’ Hyun-Jin Ryu (2-1, 2.89 ERA) will go up against the Orioles’ Jason Hammel (2-1, 4.53 ERA.) Ryu and Hammel have similar success so far this season, but Hammel has been the benefactor of a strong Orioles offense wheras Ryu has won his games by keeping runs off the scoreboard, a key feature of many Dodger wins so far this season.
Game 2 is tomorrow night, another 4:05 p.m. start Los Angeles time, and the Dodgers will have Josh Beckett (0-2, 3.23) ERA making his first start since his hard-luck 1-0 loss last Sunday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Countering him will be Wei-Yun Chen (0-2, 4.00 ERA) in a duel of two starters looking for their first win of the season.
Game 3 will be on Sunday, a 10:35 a.m. local time start, as Chad Billingsley (1-0, 3.00 ERA) looks to follow up a quality start in which he got a No Decision Monday night going against the Orioles’ Jake Arrieta (1-0, 5.40 ERA) in an afternoon game.
Stay tuned as these two teams try to gain some momentum in their respective divisions over the weekend.

Following their surprising run last season and a strong start to the 2013 campaign, the Baltimore Orioles know that they can compete in the American League East. The Dodgers, like any responsible Twitter users...
