The Braves acquired both Upton brothers this offseason. The Braves made headlines this offseason with their acquisition of B.J. Upton in November, signing him to a five year deal worth about $75 million. However, just when the offseason was winding down and it appeared the Braves were done, they surprised everyone and acquired B.J.’s brother Justin from the Diamondbacks. The tandem added a boost to the Atlanta offense that they so badly needed, and had some experts picking them to challenge the Nationals for the NL crown. Thus far, it appears the Braves made the right move, at least with Justin Upton. If the season ended today, he would be the unanimous MVP. Upton is leading the majors with 12 home runs, three more than anyone else. That, to go along with a not-too-shabby .287/.387/.693 has carried the otherwise mediocre Braves offense. In reality, it has been the pitching that has carried the Atlanta Braves this season. Despite trading Tommy Hanson this winter, the Braves lead base...

Dish customer? You won’t see the next 3 Braves games

Late last week I was at my parents' house and my dad was watching a rerun of NCIS/Law & Order/one of his usual Dad Shows, I don't remember. "Deddy, you're watching the wrong channel," I joked. "The Braves are on." "I thought we didn't get Braves games anymore because we have Dish?" Well, no. It seems there are some misunderstandings...

When Should Fredi Gonzalez Make Moves?

Fredi Gonzalez has the Braves in first place in the NL East Yesterday’s article entitled, “Braves Could Have Decisions to Make,” detailed the struggles of Dan Uggla and B.J. Upton, and talked about options Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez may at some point consider. The real question I’m going to talk about today, is when if it all would it be appropriate for Gonzalez to bench...

Chopcast: Hudson cementing impressive legacy

ATLANTA Following Tuesday's Braves game against the Nationals, there were plenty of questions concerning future opinions, especially those of how baseball voters would view the career of Tim Hudson. The 37-year-old veteran had just won his 200th game in memorable fashion: pitching seven innings of one-run ball to go along with his third career home run. But how should his career...

Mets-Braves Preview

The Atlanta Braves' all-or-nothing offense has provided closer to nothing of late, though that hasn't been case when the New York Mets have visited Turner Field. The NL East-leading Braves will try to get back on track and beat the Mets for the eighth time in nine home games in the opener of a three-game series on Friday night. After getting shut out with only two hits...

Montero: Unhappy Upton needed change of scenery

PHOENIX -- Diamondbacks catcher Miguel Montero is hardly surprised that Justin Upton broke loose with a 12-home run April in his new Atlanta home. He has seen Upton flex before. That does mean Upton would have done the same had he stayed in Sedona red, Montero said. We all know he is capable of that,'' said Montero, who played with Upton from 2007 to 2012. "The big...
