UntitledThe Nats Blog’s own Ted Youngling sat down with Vinny Cartiglia of MetsBlog to discuss this week’s series between the Washington Nationals and the New York Mets.

The Nats began a three-game series with the Mets tonight at 7:10 pm.

Vinny Cartiglia: The Mets are scheduled to face Stephen Strasburg during this three game set, who I am very excited to see up close. Do Nationals fans believe he can live up to the hype that has surrounded him since being the first overall selection just two years ago?

Ted Youngling: Strasburg continues to impress me with each outing. It amazes me that despite undergoing Tommy John surgery over a year ago he still made it back in time to make five starts last September. In a weird way, I feel the hype surrounding Bryce Harper has taken much of the pressure off Strasburg.

After viewing Stephen Strasburg's new Toyota ad, below, (via DC Sports Bog) we can scratch "actor" and "salesman" off the list of Strasburg's potential career options. Yesterday, Terry Collins said Johan Santana will likely be on a strict pitch count of 95 pitches max when he opposes Stephen Strasburg this afternoon in the series finale. Additionally, Santana will pitch on an extra day of rest for the next six starts, including today, because of the way team days off fall. “It will still be monitored very closely,” Collins said. ...

Johan Looking Great Through Two Starts

With Johan Santana and Stephen Strasburg facing off today, the player that in my mind had the most to prove was Santana. Strasburg is going to be nasty. He proved in September last year and that was the indiciation on Opening Day as well. His teammate Jordan Zimmermann came back just fine from the exact same rehab plan from the exact same surgery. Santana's situation has less...

Mets Lose Control….and the Series to Washington

Wednesday’s game shaped up to be a classic pitching duel between one of the most dominant pitchers of his era, Johan Santana, and a young phenom, Stephen Strasburg, who may well carry the torch into the next era. For the most part, it lived up to the hype. Both pitchers are coming off serious surgeries and, due to pitch limits, neither got past the sixth inning. But for flashes...
