The Rays rolled into Arlington to face the Rangers and hope to get above .500. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen as they barely avoided the sweep.  In the first game of the series, the Rays were down 5-1 in the 8th inning. Tampa Bay got two runs on the board in the inning and headed into the 9th inning down two runs. After cutting the lead to one, with two outs and a full count, Ben Zobrist looked at what was believed to be the worst call strike three in baseball history — ending the game 5-4. In game two, Tampa Bay could not get anything going offensively. Rangers’ pitcher Nick Tepesch was making his debut and looked like a veteran on the mound. Tepesch pitched into the 7th inning and struck out five, walked three, and gave up one run, lifting the Rangers past the Rays 6-1. The Rays would finally get a win and break the three game losing streak Wednesday afternoon. Matt Moore got that start and the win as his gave up just one hit in nearly six full innings of work. Rays got RBI from Ben Zobrist and Evan Longoria to beat the Rangers 2-0. Fernando Rodney got his first save in the win.   The post Series recap: Rays avoid the sweep appeared first on The Bay Cave.
