Buster Olney of ESPN.com says (via Twitter) the San Francisco Giants dodged a bullet! At the time outfielder Melky Cabrera was suspended, he was in talks with the Giants about an extension worth something in the range of $75-$85 million.
Cabrera was a big reason the Giants were in the position they were till he got busted for PED’s. He was very fun to watch and was putting on a hitting clinic. However, it remains a mystery as to how well he will do post PED’s. I’m just glad the Giants didn’t give him that kind of money, because he could come crashing down to earth this year. Only time will tell if this Melk is spoiled or not!
In another Olney tweet, he says Buster Posey and the Giants are not close to an extension. If one develops, then the best comparable contract is probably the Joey Votto deal. That’s a 12-year commitment, and not a 3-year deal.
In a 3-year span, Posey has already won Rookie of the Year, Batting Title, Silver Slugger Awa...

In three seasons from 2009-2011, Matt Cain was a great fantasy option for his perennially low ERA and WHIP. Unfortunately, his strikeout totals were lacking and kept him from being an SP1 in all but the deepest fantasy leagues. That changed last year as Cain’s Ks finally made the leap. From 2009-2011, those three great [...]

Two scoreless innings, no arm fatigue and no lingering pain from a blister on his pitching hand were enough for San Francisco Giants pitcher Tim Lincecum to call Tuesday's outing a positive one.
The right-hander couldn't make it to three innings, however, allowing three runs on four hits in 2 1-3 innings in his first spring training start since Feb. 26. The Giants fell to...
