Jon Heyman of SI.com says (via twitter) Larry Baer has said the San Francisco Giants are also trying to lock up starting pitcher Matt Cain as well as Tim Lincecum. The team is looking to to try to get four year deals.   Cain will be a free agent after the 2012 season, and Lincecum will not be eligible to be a free agent until after the 2013 season.   Does anyone remember the days when we all said “Lincecum and Cain then pray for rain”? ~King of Cali (Steven) ———-——–—-——-——––———————-—————————————————- You can follow SF Giants Rumors Facebook page for more Giants updates! SF Giants Rumors: No Talks With Lincecum For Multi-Year Deal At This Point

Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle says Tim Lincecum‘s representative, Rick Thurman, told him this morning he and the San Francisco Giants have not had one discussion about a multi-year contract and, in fact, have had “no substantive talks” on even a one-year deal that would prevent the sides from going to salary arbitration.   “My only expectation is that we’ll...

Giants Rumors: Priority is Extending Tim Lincecum

According to Jon Heyman, the Giants are trying to lock up Tim Lincecum this offseason on a long-term deal of at least four years. Extending Matt Cain seems like the Giants’ top priority, though oddly enough, the Giants’ focus is “as much or more” on Lincecum. Heyman speculates that this is because Lincecum is a) a “bigger star,” and b) more of a threat to leave San Francisco...

Four Giants pitchers receive Cy Young votes

Lincecum, Bumgarner, Cain and Vogelsong (not pictured) all received Cy Young votes from the BBWAA. We Giants fans have become somewhat spoiled when it comes to our pitchers and Cy Young award voting. That’s what happens when you’ve got a two-time Cy winner and a stud rotation like the Giants do. And although none of the Giants starters are bringing home the hardware this year...

'Duk's Dozen is a heaping morning serving of baseball items, links and takes — designed to keep you warm all offseason long. 1. Giants Attempting To Extend Matt Cain

Giants to Offer Lincecum Extension: Report

There's no question that pitching is the priority for the Giants this off-season, despite serious offensive woes in 2011. Brian Sabean has said as much, and the logic there centers around the need to lock up Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain for a longer period of time. According to Jon Heyman of Sports Illustrated, the Giants are trying to do just that, and are going to "make...

Freak's Agent: Long Deal Unlikely

We noted recently a report that the Giants are making overtures to Tim Lincecum's camp on a long-term extension. Here's some good news on that front: it's true! And here's some bad news: it's unlikely to actually happen. Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury-News spoke to Lincecum's agent Rick Thurman, and Thurman confirmed that the Giants and Lincecum...

Negotiations beginning with Giants co-aces

The Giants telegraphed their intent to sign Tim Lincecum and Matt Cain to multiyear contracts before the offseason was a day old. And speculation about management's possible negotiations with the team's co-aces has proliferated.

Cain, Lincecum overlooked, but not forgotten

Matt Cain and Tim Lincecum are virtually guaranteed to finish far behind the leaders in the National League Cy Young Award balloting, which will be announced Thursday.
