Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com says the San Francisco Giants made a $100 million offer to Tim Lincecum for fiver years. Lincecum rejected the offer, and the Giants are now focusing on a two-year or one-year deal.
The Giants and Lincecum don’t seem to be far apart on a one-year, or two-year deal. I don’t believe they will take this to an arbitration hearing. Some fans on SF Giants Rumors Facebook are saying Lincecum is being greedy, and other fans are saying just give him the salary he submitted for arbitration. They say just give him what he wants to keep him happy, and maybe that will keep him from bolting to New York when he’s a free agent.
Heyman also says baseball people believe Matt Cain might be able to match Cliff Lee‘s $120 million if he decides to test the free agent market. However, word on the street is that Cain really wants to stay in San Francisco. Which means he could just be asking the Giants to offer him a fair market deal, and they won’...
