Yesterday, news broke like a wild fire that San Francisco Giants closer Sergio Romo was cuffed at the Las Vegas airport on New Year’s Day. The news was burning up the Internet, and now Romo has issued a statement to put out the fire.
“I would like to sincerely apologize about the recent events at the Las Vegas airport which brought negative attention to the San Francisco Giants organization and it’s fans,” Romo said in a statement Thursday. “I love and respect the Giants, my teammates and our fans and promise to conduct myself in the future in the San Francisco Giants Way.”
Some fans on SF Giants Rumors Facebook page think Romo should be held to a higher standard since he’s a pro athlete and World Champion. Others believe that the incident is tame, compared to other pro athletes that are getting arrested these days.
