We learned a few things this week; the San Francisco Giants placed Tim Lincecum, Hunter Pence and Javier Lopez on waivers, and all three of them were claimed. Don’t panic Giants fans, this doesn’t mean they’ll be going to another team. The Giants will pull them back off waivers and keep them. The team has expressed interest in re-signing all three players.   We also learned that Lincecum isn’t thinking about free agency yet, but familiarity and fan support will “definitely be a factor when the time comes,” said Andrew Baggarly of (via Twitter).   In another Baggarly tweet, he says Pence told him that he’d still pass up free agency to sign a multi-year deal, but the Giants haven’t made an offer yet.   Outfielder Andres Torres had his surgery yesterday. It’s reported as a successful surgery and Torres will need six months of rehab, reports John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle (via Twitter).   Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury News says (via Twitter) the Ari

Hunter Pence hits longest HR of season

A day after running full speed into the outfield wall like Bump Bailey and shaking it off like it was no big deal, Hunter Pence was back in the full maniac mode we’ve come to know him for on Tuesday night when he pummeled this pitch to the left field seats: Your browser does not support iframes. The ball traveled an estimated 476 feet. That is the longest home run in all of the...

Should The Giants Re-sign Tim Lincecum?

Credit: Steven Robles – SF Giants Rumors The San Francisco Giants face a tough decision whether or not to re-sign Tim Lincecum as he will be a free agent after the 2013 season.  A crowd favorite and one of the most popular players on the team, the Giants could alienate many fans if they don’t re-sign the former 2 time Cy Young Award winner. Though his statistics have been...

Hunter Pence Hits Home 476-Foot Home Run, Longest of 2013 Season (Video)

Mike Napoli hit a baseball very, very far Tuesday night, but it paled in comparison up against the ball hit by Giants outfielder Hunter Pence. Pence hit the farthest home run of the 2013 season Tuesday night, and he did it (of course) at Coors Field in Colorado. The outfielder lifted off for a 476-foot blast to left field in baseball’s friendliest hitter’s park, a blast that...

Hunter Pence Sends One Into Orbit

Hunter Pence hit a monster shot at Coors Field Tuesday night in what was the longest home run of the season at 476 feet.  As our friend Kyle Mooney asks, “What are the chances some of those home run balls launch into orbit?”  Pretty good last night, Kyle, pretty good. The longest homer of this season has been hit by...Hunter Pence?!

Everyone loves long homers. The longest homer of the 2013 season (so far) was hit last night at Coors Field (because of course jt was). The man behind this monstrous homer wasn't Giancarlo Stanton, or Mike Trout, or Mike Napoli, but actually Hunter Pence of the Giants. Wait, what? Hunter Pence? That's right, Hunter Pence. Pence's bomb in the first inning off of Rockies...

Giants' Pence goes really, really deep in 5-3 win at Colorado

The Giants made history last year when winning the World Series. If they don't improve in the standings they'll make history again for all the wrong reasons. They could become just the second team since the World Series was created to follow a championship with a last-place finish. The only team to finish last a year after winning a World Series was the 1998 Marlins and...

Pence, Sandoval help Giants beat Rockies 5-3

Hunter Pence sidestepped questions about his home run, the one that cleared the top row of seats in left field. No, he didn't hear anything special when the ball made contact with his bat in the first inning. And no, he didn't realize it was going to travel an extra-long way. Pence wanted to avoid that topic all together after the San Francisco Giants beat the Colorado...

D-backs shut out as Lincecum outduels Delgado

PHOENIX (AP) -- Tim Lincecum pitched six strong innings and third baseman Pablo Sandoval made a diving play to save the San Francisco Giants in their 1-0 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday night. Angel Pagan doubled and scored in the first during his first game back from a long stint on the disabled list. Three relievers closed it out for the Giants, who handed Randall...

Giants shut out D'backs behind Lincecum's strong outing

Angel Pagan showed up and the Giants went into a time warp. They went back to doing things right. Made the right pitches. Made all the plays including a few fancy ones. Made it feel like old times - thanks to the presence of Pagan who played his first big-league game since May 25 the day he hit an inside-the-park walk-off home run that pulled the Giants into a first-place tie in...

Giants-Diamondbacks Preview

Poor situational hitting left the Arizona Diamondbacks one win shy of a series sweep. They'll look to rebound against Tim Lincecum, who they've hammered over the last three seasons, as he starts for the San Francisco Giants in Friday night's opener at Chase Field. After plating 16 runs in taking the first two games at San Diego, Arizona (68-64) suffered a 5-1 loss Wednesday...

No Ruben, No.

Wiki Commons Photo in the Public Domain I have this buddy of mine who is full of bad ideas- he wouldn't trade Ryan Howard if he could, he still likes the Papelbon move, he wants to put Dom Brown in center, wants to give Hunter Pence a $75 million deal...
