On Saturday, Shave Victorino silenced his postseason critics. Game 6 of the ALCS had its unlikely hero for the Red Sox when Victorino took Detroit reliever Jose Veras into the seats atop the Green Monster in the seventh inning, eventually propelling the Sox to a 5-2 come-from-behind win. The Flyin’ Hawaiian’s slam was preceded by the fans at Fenway Park singing along to his walk-up song, “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley. Victorino won’t say that the sing along was the reason he hit his second career postseason grand slam, but that it certainly was a great feeling to have the fans behind him. Hear what else Victorino had to say in the video above. Filed under: Boston Red Sox, Boston Red Sox Video, NESN Sports Today, NESN Video, Top Stories

Shane Victorino’s Son Tries Out Jenny Dell’s Job, Interviews Father at Fenway Park (Photo)

NESN may have found a future Red Sox reporter. Shane Victorino‘s son, Kingston, was at the Red Sox’ workout on Monday but he wasn’t just there to watch his old man and the rest of the 2013 American League champions practice. Rather than sit back and enjoy the best team in the AL prepare for the World Series, the 3-year-old decided to put some work in and test out his interviewing...

Victorino's Penchant for Postseason Grand Slams

Congrats to old buddy Shane Victorino. The Flyin' Hawaiian's grand slam in Game 6 of the ALCS sent the Boston Red Sox to the World Series to face the St. Louis Cardinals. It was an emotional blast for Shane, as he was terrible up until that point in the series. If you recall, this is Vic's second postseason grand slam, having taken CC Sabathia deep back in 2008 against...

It was Shane Victorino‘s turn to play the role of the hero for the Red Sox on Saturday night. Finding themselves trailing by one to the Tigers, the right fielder stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded and one out in the seventh. Jonny Gomes got the magic rolling, leading off the inning with a double. After Stephen Drew went down swinging, Xander Bogaerts worked a walk and...

The Boston Red Sox are World Series bound. After Dustin Pedroia and Jonny Gomes came within inches of knocking a couple of homers out of Fenway Park, Shane Victorino finally made it happen. The right fielder came up to the plate with the bases loaded, one out, and he absolutely crushed a Jose Veras curveball over the Green Monster to give the Red Sox the lead, 5-2. Red Sox Tame Tigers for American League Pennant, Look Like Team of Destiny Going Into World Series

BOSTON — Baseball is the most statistic-based sport on the planet. There’s seemingly a number for everything, and those numbers are used ad nauseam to try to explain what happens on the field. Sometimes, you just have to say, “Screw it,” and enjoy the ride. The Red Sox are World Series bound after taming the Tigers in six games in the ALCS, and there are plenty of reasons...

Greatest Soundbyte from the ALCS?

We heard and saw a lot of awesome things during the 2013 ALCS. But the following soundbyte, especially when whittled down and removed from the context of Salty and Erin Andrews having just been doused with Gatorade by Shane Victorino, has a certain poignancy to it. And, yes, Salty’s response pushes it into the Stratosphere of Awesome. The post Greatest Soundbyte from the ALCS...

Drunk Red Sox fan says “f*ckin titties” on live TV after ALCS Game 6 victory

This drunken Boston Red Sox fan kind of forced his way onto live TV after the Red Sox ALCS Game 6 victory over the Detroit Tigers and I’m guessing the local news is regretting their decision to talk to him.  When asked to explain why the fan had faith in Shane Victorino, he eloquently replied “he’s the f*ckin’ titties.”  Solid analysis there.
