According to Tigers beat writer Chris Iott, the Tigers front office and manager Jim Leyland have already started to identify potential players to call up in September when the rosters expand. Among those potential players making the jump to the big leagues includes highly touted prospect Nick Castellanos.
“Yeah, they asked me about that this morning,” Leyland said. “I have a pretty strong opinion on it. One of the questions today was talking about Castellanos.”
And Leyland’s opinion on Castellanos is…
“I don’t want to get my boss mad at me, but somebody said, ‘Well, do you just bring him up here to see what it’s like in the big leagues?’” Leyland said. “No, I don’t think you do that. That’s my opinion. I think you bring him up if you think he can help the club.”
So with guys like Mike Trout making a big impact with the Angels and Bryce Harper doing what he’s doing with the Nationals, why can’t the Tigers get something out of their best young prospect?
As it stands right now
