A lot has been said by New York Mets fans since it was revealed that third baseman David Wright is likely to participate in this year’s Home Run Derby at Citi Field. Wright has been a part of this event before, finishing second in 2006 behind Philadelphia Phillies first baseman, Ryan Howard.
Most fans don’t think this would be a good idea, pointing to his lack of home runs in the second half of 2006 following his power display at PNC Park in Pittsburgh. While I wholeheartedly understand where they’re coming from, I make a case in favor of Wright participating in this event on Yahoo! Sports.
I actually wrote this article on Friday, but haven’t had a chance to link it here on the site until today, so for that, I apologize. Birthdays get in the way of that kind of thing, and I’ll be spending part of this week catching up a bit. I hope you enjoy the article, and let me know what you think!
