Reds right fielder Jay Bruce was among the early arrivals to Spring Training on Monday. Bruce, who was listed at 225 pounds last season, arrived noticeably trimmer.

On Tuesday, ESPN Insider Jim Bowden published the names of seven players who he thinks are "poised to erupt" this season. One former member of the Cincinnati organization made the list. He was included in the trade that brought right-hander Mat Latos to the Queen City in exchange for three others. Who is it? It's none other than RHP Brad Boxberger.
A Redlegs Review happy birthday goes to Reds reliever Charles "Carlos" Edward Fisher. The right-hander is celebrating his 29th birthday today.
Drafted in the 11th round of the 2005 Draft by Cincinnati, Fisher has spent his entire career in the organization. He logged 24 innings pitched in 17 games for the big club last year, including 5 2/3 of those in the epic 19...
I was prepared to write all sorts of glowing comments about the state of Cincinnati’s minor league system… but then a funny thing happened. The organization acquired one of the top arms in the National League at the cost of three key young prospects. Even with the trade dust now settled, though, the farm system still boasts some high ceiling prospects, as well as a plethora of...

The Cincinnati Reds, mostly pitchers and catchers this week, began spring training Monday with some things old and a lot...
Reds manager Dusty Baker wasn't ready to declare rookie Devin Mesoraco his No. 1 catcher as of Tuesday morning.
After passing his physical, veteran pitcher Brett Tomko formally signed a Minor League contract with the Reds on Sunday. He is in Major League camp as a non-roster player and participated in the first workout.

GOODYEAR, ARIZ. (AP) - Aroldis Chapman will be tested as a starter this spring by the Cincinnati Reds. The 24-year old lefthander whose pitches have been clocked at 105 mph has a 6-3 record with a 3.27 ERA in 69 relief appearances over the last two seasons with Cincinnati. But the small-market ...
The Cincinnati Reds have signed pitcher Brett Tomko to a minor league contract, the team announced Sunday.
With Jay Bruce 15 pounds lighter this year as he reported to camp, manager Dusty Baker expects the right fielder to make adjustments in his hitting approach.
Pressure tested, Philly approved. Not much will rattle new Reds closer Ryan Madson when he emerges from the bullpen in the ninth inning.
You’ve got to love it.
