ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) -- Matt Dominguez hit a tiebreaking three-run homer in the seventh inning, and the Houston Astros won back-to-back series for the first time in nearly two months with a 7-5 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday. Dominguez tied his career high with four hits in his native Southern California, while L.J. Hoes had his first career homer among his three hits in the major league-worst Astros' fourth win in six games. After Houston blew an early three-run lead, Dominguez homered on the next pitch after Angels reliever Juan Gutierrez (0-4) intentionally walked Carlos Corporan. Brett Oberholtzer (3-1) pitched six effective innings during Houston's sixth win in seven games at Angel Stadium. Mike Trout had two hits for the Angels before leaving in the sixth inning with right hamstring tightness.

L.J. Hoes landed in town Thursday evening hoping to finally visit Hollywood. Matt Dominguez a Southern California native didn’t even consider any tourist stops. This area is home after all. Umpire Nails Astros Pitcher Brad Peacock With Throw Back to Mound (Video)

Welcome to today’s edition of “Only the Astros.” A month after a distracted Jarred Cosart took a ball off the face from his own catcher, Houston found another one of its pitchers caught in the line of fire. This time, it was the umpire supplying the embarrassment, as a toss back to the mound by home plate ump Paul Schrieber on Friday smacked Astros starter Brad Peacock right...

Astros call up LHP LeBlanc, option OF Krauss

The Houston Astros have called up left-hander Wade LeBlanc from Oklahoma City and optioned rookie outfielder Marc Krauss to the Triple-A team. Houston made the move with LeBlanc on Monday before opening a three-game series at Texas. LeBlanc was claimed off waivers by the Astros from Miami in June. He had a 9.82 ERA in 3.2 innings in three appearances earlier this season for the...

Astros Elmore catches, pitches after starting on bench

ARLINGTON, Texas For a guy who didn't start the game for the Houston Astros, Jake Elmore sure made the most of his outing in a 16-5 loss to Houston. Elmore started the game on the bench but took over in the bottom of the fourth inning in a 13-1 game after starting catcher Carlos Corporan left the game after taking a foul ball off his head during an 11-run inning by the Rangers...

Astros' Jonathan Villar still hampered by sprained thumb

Houston Astros shortstop Jonathan Villar was sidelined last week due to his sprained thumb. He's since rejoined the Astros' lineup, but he aggravated the injury Saturday and, as a result, was held out of the team's lineup for yesterday's weekend finale against the Los Angeles Angels, according to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com. Astros manager Bo Porter told reporters...

Home Plate Umpire Nails Unporepared Astros Pitcher With Toss To Mound

Home plate umpire Paul Schrieber has tossed a ball back to the mound thousands of times during his career, and he is not one to wait on pitchers to pay attention apparently. In a fairly comedic routine, Paul tossed a ball back at Astros starting pitcher Brad Peacock and it nailed Brad as he wasn’t ready for the quick toss. No harm, no foul. Just a little laughing and confusion...

Houston Astros Pitcher Gets Hard Reminder of Important Lesson in Baseball

Always pay attention. That was one of the first things I can remember my little league coaches telling me when I first gave baseball a try. Why? Because the moment you do not is when that ball is going to appear to come out of nowhere and nail you in the face, chest, family jewels, etc... Starting pitcher Brad Peacock got that reminded Friday night against the Los Angeles...

Offense comes alive in Astros 8-2 win over Angels

A surprise member of the opening day roster righthander Brad Peacock was the first pitcher dumped out of the Astros’ rotation early this season. Chris Carter has stuck around all season leading the team in home runs and runs batted in while trying to ignore the loud critics who whine about his record strikeout pace. On Friday Peacock and Carter showed why the Astros have stuck...
