In their longest roadtrip until the beginning of July, the Boston Red Sox proved once again why they are one of the best teams away from Fenway Park this season. During the nine game trip, the Red Sox went 6-3 while winning two of out three series including taking two of three in Tampa Bay and a weekend sweep of the Minnesota Twins. This past series with Chicago White Sox didn’t go as smooth but Boston ended the three game series with an impressive 6-2 win. Clay Buchholz pitched a solid seven innings allowing just one run and striking out four batters to improve to 7-0 on the season. The highlight of the roadtrip came when Boston swept the Twins in a weekend series for the first time since June 12-14, 1976. One trend that was the present in the weekend sweep was the starting pitching in two of the three games. Buchholz and John Lackey each pitched at least six innings each allowing two runs or less. Whenever the Red Sox have gotten solid starting pitching, it has always translated w...

Clay Buchholz Able to Avoid Two-Out Trouble Early, Giving Red Sox Chance at Holding Off White Sox (Video)

Most of the damage done by the Chicago White Sox against Red Sox pitching this series has come with two outs. In fact, all of it had come with two outs entering Wednesday night’s game. For now, NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette is hoping...

Red Sox win; Buchholz now 7-0

John Lackey’s Early Season Resurgence Due to Veteran’s Ability to Get Ahead of Hitters

Admit it. You were skeptical John Lackey would ever be a viable big league pitcher again. When he injured his biceps earlier this month, you thought he was done. To be fair, there were lots of reasons for Red Sox Nation to be skeptical of Lackey entering 2013. Even before missing all of the 2012 season rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, Lackey had been a shell of his former self...

John Lackey on Point Again for Red Sox, But Acknowledges Arm Strength Isn’t ‘All The Way There Yet’ (Video)
