The Rays and Rangers have had discussions on a trade involving James Shields, major-league sources told FOXSports.com. Shields is expendable because of Tampa Bay's pitching depth, while the Rangers would like to upgrade their rotation given injuries to Colby Lewis and Neftali Feliz and the poor performance of Roy Oswalt. The two teams have met in the first round of the American League playoffs in each of the past two seasons, with the Rangers winning both times en route to the World Series.

Milone (9-7, 3.51 ERA) saw his road woes continue Thursday in a 10-4 loss...

Dempster arrives in Texas

Ryan Dempster finally has a chance to start for the Texas Rangers. Traded Tuesday from the Chicago Cubs, Dempster arrived in the Metroplex about 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and spent the remainder of the afternoon getting adjusted to his fourth major league team - the one that drafted him in the third round in 1995 out of a high school in British Columbia. He was traded as a minor leaguer...

Rangers send Oswalt to bullpen after poor start

The Texas Rangers are moving Roy Oswalt to the bullpen after he was hit hard in his latest start. Texas general manager Jon Daniels said Tuesday that the move wasn't necessarily permanent. Oswalt gave up eight runs and 11 hits in 5 1-3 innings Monday in a 15-8 loss to the Los Angeles Angels. The 34-year-old righty is 3-2 with a 6.49 ERA in six starts. He signed as a free agent...

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- The Tampa Bay Rays, still feeling the effects from Monday's 15-inning, 5-hour loss to the Oakland Athletics, have called up right-handed reliever Josh Lueke. Lueke was with the Rays coming out of spring training and has an 18.90 ERA in three games with the big league club. The 6-foot-5-inch, 235-pounder was 1-3 with a 4.72 ERA for Triple-A Durham before...

Hideki Matsui, known as the best slugger to come to Major League Baseball from Japan, was released Wednesday by the Tampa Bay Rays. Neftali Feliz needs season ending Tommy John surgery

Texas Rangers fans were given some bad news after the team acquired Ryan Dempster from the Cubs, as it was announced by General Manager Jon Daniels that pitcher Neftali Feliz will require season ending Tommy John surgery for a torn UCL ligament in his throwing elbow. This news comes on the heels of the announcement that fellow pitcher Colby Lewis would require Tommy John surgery...

Oswalt struggles, Angels shell Rangers 15-8

Roy Oswalt gave the Rangers another reason to look for pitching help at the trade deadline. Angels switch hitter Kendrys Morales became only the third major-league player to homer from each side of the plate in the same inning - one off Oswalt - during a nine-run sixth of a 15-8 Los Angeles victory. Mike Trout went 2 for 5 with a home run, four RBIs, three runs scored and a walk...

Rangers find fight in 5th, rally to win in 10th

The Rangers took fans on a rollercoaster tonight.  One that starts out really terrible and ends really awesome.  I don’t think I’d care to go on a ride like that if it exists in real life. And my baseball heart certainly doesn’t need them in metaphor version either. But if it ends in a win like that, I really don’t want to complain. Yu Darvish struck out the side in the...
