The John Lackey Road to Redemption tour looked like it was going to end before it even got started as the right hander left the game in agony after throwing a wild pitch to Jose Reyes on Saturday. It was a damn shame too since he was looking pretty sharp out there, (except for the meatball he gave to JP Arencibia). But the injury isn't as bad as it looked. From WEEI's Alex Speier: The Red Sox have expressed optimism that the injury to John Lackey‘s right biceps is not serious, but the right-hander is scheduled to get a second opinion Monday, after which the team will decide on his immediate future. Lackey left Saturday’s game in Toronto in the fifth inning after grabbing his arm following a pitch. An MRI in Boston on Sunday revealed inflammation in the biceps but nothing more serious. Said manager John Farrell: “There has not been any detection of a tear.” Farrell said it’s “unlikely” Lackey makes his next scheduled start, but: “We’re not at the point of saying he’s a DL, either.” Lackey must be breathing a sigh of relief. Here's hoping the second opinion agrees with the MRI. While Lackey is out, Alfredo Aceves will take the mound on Friday, which is pretty important for him since he's stumbling out of the gate, giving up home runs in both of his appearances this season. It could be a make or break start for Mr. Eyes of Satan.
