Jon Lester took the mound and continued his climb back to dominance with another nice performance.  Lester was also helped out by some nice performances from Nick Punto and Pedro Ciriaco.  That is probably not how you would have written in up in April, but then again...is anything this year? Jon Lester took the mound against the Yankees looking for his 2nd win in a row.  Thankfully Lester took the mound with 2 runs already in his pocket when Gonzo hit a 2 run HR in the top of the first.  Sox 2-0.  Lester started out the outing letting the first 2 Yankees on, however he got the next 3 outs and was out of the inning.  Lester didn't give up a run until the bottom of the 4th when he gave up a solo HR to Granderson.  Sox 2-1.  In the top of the 5th, the Sox got that run right back for Jonny.  Pedro Ciriaco got on with a single and then scored on an RBI double from Nick Punto.  Sox 3-1.  Lester just kept on trucking and pitched 7 strong innings.  It's great to see that Lester bac...

Jon Lester Paves the Way for Complete Effort From Red Sox Pitching Staff

Jon Lester is back to exuding the confidence of an ace. After four months of beatings, the lefty took the mound against the Yankees and stymied them in Saturday's 4-1 victory, yielding just four hits and one run through seven innings of work. For the first time since May 19, the Red Sox have won two consecutive starts with Lester on the bump. It's only the third time this...

Jon Lester Becomes Latest Member of Red Sox to Wonder If Boston Is Still Desirable Place to Play

Jon Lester has had a rough 11-month stretch of baseball. He, along with Josh Beckett, struggled mightily down the stretch last season, going belly up as one of the main culprits in the Red Sox' September collapse. It was then revealed that he was one of the pitchers involved in the chicken and beer saga. This season hasn't been much better, really, as Lester has struggled...

Jon Lester's Apparent Turnaround Likely Too Late and Other Thoughts From the Week in Baseball

Time is running out. This shouldn't come as news to any Red Sox fans, but after nother disappointing road trip, the Sox return home sitting 7 1/2 games back in the wild card race, with a handful of teams left they'd need to catapult to play October baseball. There's no doubt that it's time to start keeping an eye on the future, and we do plenty of that in this week...

Lester, Gonzalez lead Red Sox past Yankees

NEW YORK -- This time, the Boston Red Sox didn't have to worry about Jon Lester getting embarrassed. And the only message Adrian Gonzalez needed to send in Lester's defense was the two-run homer he provided in the first inning to help beat the New York Yankees 4-1 Saturday at Yankee Stadium. Lester looked more like the pitcher Boston had counted on entering the season...

Your Morning Dump... Where Boston becomes less desirable by the day

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. For most of the past decade, the Red Sox [team stats] have been regarded by a vast majority of players as a desirable team for which to work. And now? “I don’t know,” ace lefty Jon Lester [stats] told...
