A sacrifice fly by David Ortiz in the top of the 10th inning drove home Ryan Kalish with what proved to be the winning run as the Red Sox topped the Seattle Mariners 2-1 to earn a split of their 4-game series at Safeco Field.Mariners starter Jason Vargas stifled the Red Sox for 8 innings allowing one run on an 8th-inning solo home run by Dustin Pedroia (pictured), one of just 5 hits allowed. He walked 2 and struck out 6.Red Sox starter Felix Doubront didn't make it through the 5th inning. He only allowed one run on 3 hits in 4.1 innings, but he walked 5 batters. Neither Vargas nor Doubront figured in the decision.Vicente Padilla got the win in relief; Alfredo Aceves needed just 5 pitches for his 19th save of the season. For Pedroia, the home run was his first since May 10th, a span of 162 at bats. He and Cody Ross each had a pair of hits for the Sox.Will Middlebrooks left the game with what was called tightness in his left hamstring.
