The St. Louis Cardinals landed Friday in Atlanta ready to begin an 11-game, 10-day road trip against three of the best teams in the National League with the best record in Major League Baseball. They had a lead in the NL Central and the best hitter in the league. A week later, the Cardinals have yet to win another game, the Pittsburgh Pirates have passed them for the division lead, and catcher Yadier Molina is on the disabled list with a knee injury. The Cardinals haven’t had many bad weeks in 2013, but this past week has been about as bad of a week as anyone could imagine. The Atlanta Braves swept the Cardinals in a three-game series through the weekend, and the Pirates won four games in three days to take a 2.5-game lead in the division heading into play Wednesday. Now the Cardinals get the joy of facing the Cincinnati Reds for three games in Cincinnati. Much of the problem has been the shutdown of the most productive offense in the game. The Cardinals still lead the National Lea...

Cardinals place Yadier Molina on the DL with knee sprain

In a huge blow to the St. Louis Cardinals defense and offense, the club has placed Yadier Molina on the 15-day DL.  Molina was lifted in the fourth inning of last night's loss because of a knee injury.  He was later placed on the 15-day DL and will undergo an MRI.  Not good. Jennifer Langosch of MLB.com says Molina will fly to St. Louis today to get an MRI on his right...

Yadier Molina headed to DL with knee injury

If there is something far worse than plummeting out of first place losing a sixth consecutive game and dropping a doubleheader to their chief challenger the Cardinals found it in the rubble of a calamitous day at Pittsburgh’s PNC Park. Catcher Yadier Molina the cornerstone of the club left Tuesday’s night game with a right knee injury that will put him on the disabled list today...

Molina leaves with knee sprain, DL likely

PITTSBURGH -- St. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina left Tuesday night's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates with a sprained right knee. How will the St. Louis Cardinals fare with Yadier Molina on the DL?

Tony Cruz (AP Photo/Tom Gannam)   When the St. Louis Cardinals dropped both games of a doubleheader and the division lead to the Pirates Tuesday, it was not the worst thing that happened to the club that day.  The most troubling problem was when Cards catcher Yadier Molina’s sprained knee flared up and he left the game, ending up on the 15-day disabled list.  While the Cardinals...

St. Louis Cardinals C Yadier Molina: Bad news

Hot News for C Yadier Molina

With Molina on DL, Cruz is more ready for this than you think

ST. LOUIS -- Remember those old home appliance commercials where the repairman never had anything to do? Tony Cruz, the backup to Yadier Molina, can relate. In his third big league season, Cruz never started more than two consecutive games, and that was earlier this month when Molina's knee woes first surfaced. Well, Cruz is about to get a chance to play regularly for at...

Cardinals rumors: Yadier Molina's injury serious, Cardinals looking for catcher

The St. Louis Cardinals have placed catcher Yadier Molina on the disabled list with a sprained knee, and the injury may be more serious than the Cardinals had originally thought. McNeal: Things go from bad to worse for Cards in Pittsburgh

ST. LOUIS -- Forget the good news. For the Cardinals Tuesday, there was only bad news and worse news. First, the worst: Yadier Molina had to exit with what the club called a right knee sprain. Yes, that's the same knee that sidelined Molina earlier in the month for two games. This time, Molina indicated that he will need more than a couple of days. He told reporters that he...

All's quiet on the Cardinals trade front

The trade deadline has passed and the Cardinals didn't make any moves.  Not surprising, given the Cards current standing and the high asking price for the pieces the team was looking at. There was a little bit of a flurry just before the deadline as the Cardinals tried to acquire Dioner Navarro from the Cubs to provide the team with a little more catching depth with Yadier...

Is Adron Chambers the spark the St. Louis Cardinals need?

With Yadier Molina and Shane Robinson being placed on the 15-day disabled list, the St. Louis Cardinals have called up Adron Chambers and Brock Peterson from Triple-A Memphis. With the offense scoring a grand total of six runs in the past six games (all losses), the team obviously needs a spark. Thus, can Chambers be the spark the team needs? In 326 at-bats for the Memphis...

'Star Wars Night' inspires creative blends of Cardinals and intergalactic characters

ST. LOUIS -- The Cardinals are hosting "Star Wars" night at Busch Stadium next Wednesday, and a couple of self-described "Stars Wars" nerds on the FOX Sports Midwest staff -- producer Max Leinwand and graphics operator Keith O'Brien -- have been amusing themselves with the possibilities. What do you get when you cross Jon Jay with Han Solo? Jon Solo. Adam...

A Win (Finally) & The Friday Links

Despite their recent losing streak, the Cardinals still lead the MLB in batting average and ERA for the month.  Don't worry, it took me a second, too. But feel free to use it at work today for some good 'ol fashion humor from people that are willing to talk about anything for a few minutes if it gets them closer to 5p even a little faster. The Cardinals hung...
