With pitchers and catchers already having a couple of days of workouts under their belts, there does not seem like a better time than now to talk some St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
That is exactly what Corey Rudd (@CoreyRudd), host of The Cruddy Show and owner and editor of this very space in internet land, did on Wednesday night as a guest co-host on The UCB Radio Hour.
Cruddy joined Dathan Brooks (@dathan7) of Cards Tied for First for an hour of hardcore, St. Louis Cardinals discussion.
The duo tackled a number of topics during the session, including their thoughts on Stan Musial's passing, Chris Carpenter's injury, Lance Lynn's new waistline, David Freese's new contract, the battle for the fifth rotation spot, and Matt Carpenter working out at second base.
Listen to the replay of the show in the player below to hear a whole bunch of great Cardinals baseball talk as the Redbirds warm-up the fields down in Jupiter, Florida.

If you follow the Hot Stove League, like I do, you are probably quite aware of the Cardinals offseason moves (or lack thereof). A while back, Joe Strauss expressed his concerns about the lack of moves by the Cards and, with other teams making significant moves to improve their rosters, it begs the question as to whether the Cardinals have lost ground to the other contenders for...
With pitchers and catchers hard at work in Jupiter, Florida, many of the St. Louis Cardinals are getting back together for the first time since the team fell to the San Francisco Giants in Game 7 of the National League Division Series.
Some things have changed since October, particularly, the waist size of starter Lance Lynn.
One thing that has not changed, is the velocity on...
JUPITER, Fla. The five appearances and 18 innings at second base seem like a distant and almost comical memory to Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter.
After being put out at second base on a few rare occasions last year despite having nearly no practice or instruction at the spot, Carpenter spent the past three months training and preparing to compete for playing time there this...
JUPITER, Fla. - The questions have been the same the past few days, but so have the answers.
And Cardinals manager Mike Matheny can't wait until left-hander Jaime Garcia can get through spring training and into the regular season to prove that he's back to full health.
Garcia, who was forced to leave a start in Game 2 of the Division Series last fall due to reoccurring...
The St. Louis Cardinals have shortstop Rafael Furcal on a
program as he continues to recover from the elbow injury he suffered in late August. However, the Cardinals don’t anticipate the veteran having any
limitations as a result of the elbow injury, according to Jenifer Langosch of
"He feels like he's pretty much on program,"
manager Mike Matheny...
JUPITER, Fla. One year was apparently all it took for the Cardinals to approve of manager Mike Matheny.
The Cardinals rewarded Matheny and general manager John Mozeliak with contract extensions during a morning news conference at their spring training complex at Roger Dean Stadium on Thursday.
Matheny had his option for 2014 picked up while the Cardinals gave Mozeliak a three...
Last fall, during the bi-annual period in which major league organizations can seek out new minor league affiliates, the St. Louis Cardinals made two changes. Initially, both moves looked like a step up.
In the short-season Class-A New York-Penn League, the Cardinals left behind the Batavia Muckdogs in favor of State College. The former is perennially last in the league in attendance...
Last year I did a project for a former blog of mine in which I tried to predict the NL Central standings based on the projected stats for each team. I used the projections of BaseballHQ.com for each team, removed the
worst hitters and pitchers to get down to around 5500 at bats and 1450
IP, which are the team averages for the NL. These are then
plugged into the Pythagorean...
St. Louis Cardinals ace starting pitcher Adam Wainwright announced Tuesday that contract talks between himself and the Cardinals have stalled for the time being. It’s not time to panic that Wainwright won’t come back, but the result wasn’t pretty the last time contract talks between the Cardinals and a superstar fell apart in spring training.
That last time was in 2011 when...
Oscar Taveras leads ten St. Louis Cardinals prospects featured in FOX Sports NEXT/Scout.com’s annual list of the best prospects in baseball.
Spring training is officially in full swing and the St. Louis Cardinals are down in Jupiter, Florida getting ready for what many are expecting to be a very promising 2013 season. While the Cardinals figure to compete for a National League Central division title and should be playoff contenders, there are some questions marks, particularly surrounding the starting rotation.
The St. Louis Cardinals’ farm system is the envy of the league. ESPN’s Keith Law recently ranked the Cardinals’ minor-league teams Number 1 in his annual farm-system rankings, with Shelby Miller, Trevor Rosenthal and Oscar Tavares all in Law’s Top 100 prospects. Baseball America agreed.
But all is not well for the Cardinals’ Triple-A affiliate Memphis Redbirds of the Pacific...
