Reds Minor Leagues:
The Reds had arguably the best bullpen in all of baseball during the 2012 season. With it appearing that Aroldis Chapman will move into the rotation, it is likely to take a step backward but should still remain a strong point of the team.
There isn’t really a for sure top relief prospect in the system, but there is a rather clear top group of prospects at the reliever position. Drew Hayes was a part of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos bullpen who had a majority of this top group in it. He finished the season with a 3.41 ERA in 63.1 innings with 64 strikeouts and 38 walks. The walk rate was rather high and will need to improve to be a quality reliever at the Major League level, but he has an above-average fastball and slider that can get Major Leaguers out. Curtis Partch began the season in the starting rotation but made his way to the bullpen where he posted a 3.01 ERA in 65.2 innings with 25 walks and 66 strikeouts. Partch has plus fastball velocity and a slider in the mid to upper 80’s...

After three innings of the baseball winter meetings, the Cincinnati Reds are still scoreless.
Though it appears at the start of day two of the three day winter meeting, the Reds will start with a man in scoring position.
It's looking more and more like Ryan Ludwick.
The Cincinnati Reds seem more interested in keeping the band...
The Cincinnati Reds really, really need to acquire a leadoff hitter this offseason. You don't believe me? Well, the numbers speak for themselves. Reds leadoff hitters finished dead last in the National League last year in average (.208), on-base percentage (.254), OPS (.581), hits (146), stolen bases (10), and walks (37). Yes, one would be absolutely correct in saying that the...

The Cincinnati Reds non-tendered, but re-signed, two members of their 40-man roster Saturday.
Kris Negron and Denis Phipps were removed from the 40-man roster in preparation of the baseball winter meetings that will begin December 3 in Nashville, TN.
The transaction means that Reds now have two open spots on their roster, allowing...
The Cincinnati Reds need a leadoff man and record-breaking speedster Billy Hamilton could fill the spot. Even so, manager Dusty Baker is wary of promoting him too fast.
The 22-year-old Hamilton stole 155 bases this season while splitting time between Double-A and Class-A. He hit .311 during his fourth pro season, then did well in the Arizona Fall League.
Baker said Monday at the...

The media caught up with Reds skipper Dusty Baker during day one of the Winter Meetings on Monday. Here are a few of the topics Baker discussed during that brief media session:
+ Importance of a leadoff hitter+ Aroldis Chapman's role+ Watching Giants win World Series+ Billy Hamilton's maturation+ Growth of players
Hard to believe that Redsfest is only 4 days away. Sometimes, time flies. On the other hand, I’ve already blocked out huge portions of the 2012 postseason, so maybe time doesn’t fly that fast after all.
Here’s some information Redsfest that FS Ohio sent. They’re going to have the “FOX Sports Ohio Girls” in attendance. I bet they’ll be wearing something inappropriately...

The 2012 campaign brought us many great memorable moments, not only on the field, but off the field as well. Here is a video clip featuring some of the best. They include Todd Frazier singing Frank Sinatra, Marty Brennaman shaving his head for charity, and a grounds crew member busting out some moves in between innings, among others.
Although the weather outside may be becoming increasingly colder, the baseball hot stove is beginning to heat up. Why is that, you may ask? Well, because the time has come for executives of the MLB world to converge at the Winter Meetings in Nashville. The extravaganza kicked off Monday morning in the friendly confines of the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center and is...
In the vein of old-fashioned baseball trades … How about Dexter Fowler for Homer Bailey?
We know this much, from major-league sources: The Colorado Rockies like Bailey, the right-hander who looked like a legitimate No. 2 starter for long stretches of this year. The Cincinnati Reds like Fowler, the antidote to their worst-in-the-majors .581 OPS from the leadoff spot. Now the question...
