According to Dejan Kovacevic, Steve Pearce has been diagnosed with a sprained right ankle and is on crutches. The injury occured after retrieving an errant throw from Monday's third baseman, Delwyn Young.Anyone who watched the game and saw the replay of the injury could immediately tell something severe had happened as Pearce's foot was basically pointing the opposite direction of his leg.He was replaced by Jeff Clement at first base. Pearce will undergo an MRI on Tuesday, in which the Pirates will know more about the injury and decide if a move will have to take place.Pearce had been loooking good after recently getting called up. In 29 AB, Pearce had put together an .809 OPS and was gearing up to take much of Clement's playing time at first.Hopefully this ankle sprain is not all too severe and we can see Pearce back in the lineup soon, as he has become a pretty valuable offensive tool, especially against lefties.
