Indianapolis Indians announcer Scott McCauley is reporting that the Pittsburgh Pirates will call up Steve Pearce. It was assumed that Neil Walker would be called up after being pulled in the fifth inning of yesterday's Indians game, but McCauley reports that Walker was pulled for not running out a pop-up.

There's no word on the corresponding move yet. Brian Bass is the most likely to be sent down, although Brendan Donnelly has missed the last five games, and could be sent to the disabled list if he's not better, which would open up a spot.

Pearce has been on fire at the AAA level, hitting for a .349/.452/.605 line with two homers in 86 at-bats. He also has an impressive 15:17 K/BB ratio so far this season. I wouldn't mind seeing him take some at-bats from Jeff Clement, who is currently hitting for a .171/.234/.329 line in the majors.
