The Marlins named the four streets surrounding their new stadium, honoring the Orange Bowl  and two hispanic baseball legends. “We tried to come up with the two most important people in Marlins history, baseball history or Hispanic baseball history, and we got to Felo Ramirez fairly quickly,” Samson said of Ramirez, the Marlins’ Hall of Fame Spanish-language broadcaster. … Bobby Maduro Drive, named in honor of the late baseball aficionado from Cuba whose name came to be recognized with the sport in Miami. The minor-league Miami Marlins played at what became Bobby Maduro Stadium. “We did some homework and realized he was critical in bringing Hispanics and baseball together in Miami,” Samson said. Nice gestures by the team on both counts.  I guess it’s too soon to name a street after Edgar Renteria or Josh Beckett.
