Dale Sveum has been introduced as the Chicago Cubs' new manager, rejoining Theo Epstein to attempt to end a 103-year World Series championship drought. Sveum talked at a Wrigley Field news conference Friday. He received a three-year contract with a club option for 2015. Sveum, the Milwaukee Brewers' hitting coach the last three years, was Boston's third base coach in 2004 and 2005 when Epstein was Boston's GM. Epstein became Chicago's president of baseball operations last month. Former Red Sox executives Jed Hoyer and Jason McLeod joined the Cubs' front office Nov. 1. Sveum is replacing the fired Mike Quade. Also interviewed were Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux, Phillies bench coach Pete Mackanin and Indians bench coach Sandy Alomar Jr.
