Hall of Famer Robin Yount accidentally shot friend and Chicago Cubs manager Dale Sveum while they were hunting for quail in Arizona this fall. "The bird was in front of him and I was about 50 yards up on a hill," Sveum told ESPN Chicago.at the baseball winter meetings in Nashville, Tenn. "He got the bird up and lost track of where I was. He pulled the trigger and was like, 'Uh, oh.'" The shot from shell hit Sveum, who was a longtime teammate with Yount on the Milwaukee Brewers, in the back of the right ear. "I got drilled with pellets in the back and then one stuck in the ear," said Sveum, who was bloodied by the accident, but had no other injuries. Sveum said referred to Yount as "Dick Cheney," the vice president who accidentally shot a friend during a hunting trip.
