PLAYERS: Johnny Cueto
TEAMS: Cincinnati Reds
Follow @DSchmelzerTSB on Twitter Former MLB superstar Manny Ramirez made his home debut with the EDA Rhinos of the Chinese Baseball League Wednesday night. He is by far the biggest name to ever play in the league.  Fans throughout the stadium made signs supporting Manny, but one has stuck out from the rest. Photo after the jump These women just wanted to make a sign that welcomes Manny Ramirez to their country, and to show him some support. Only one minor problem, the picture on it is not Manny, it is Cincinnati Reds’ pitcher Johnny Cueto. Now that is great! Obviously, this was just a simple mistake, but come on! Did they just do a Google search for “baseball players with dreadlocks” or what?!  I mean, the dreads are really the only thing that makes them looks similar. I would love to know how these women, came across this photo and thought that it was their new baseball star. I also came across this video of Manny’s first hit in the CBL, the broadcasters just go nuts over a stand...

Manny Ramirez Makes Debut With EDA Rhinos in Taiwan, Fans Mistake Him for Johnny Cueto (Video)

Manny Ramirez is officially back on the diamond, folks. Unable to land a job (or even a spring training invite) with a major league club, Ramirez has landed in Taiwan, inking a deal with the EDA Rhinos. However, the local fans may apparently want to acclimate themselves with their new star. According to Busted Coverage, Ramirez’s Wednesday debut was nothing short of a circus, as...

Reds boast healthy presence in ESPN's top 500 player rankings

Slowly but surely, day-by-day, the ESPN Baseball Tonight crew has been unveiling its rankings for the top 500 players in Major League Baseball for 2013. The series began on March 20 and concluded on Friday, with the unveiling of the top 10 players. As you might imagine, several Reds made the cut. After all, there are only so many active MLB players they can choose from. And why...

Taiwanese fans use Manny Ramirez photo that isn’t, um… Manny Ramirez

Fans in Taiwan came out in force to see the newest member of the RDA Rhinos, Manny Ramirez, make his debut Wednesday. These two ladies marked the occasion with this special sign in support of the washed up slugger. Mandy Cheng/AFP/Getty Images As CBS Sports’ Dayn Perry points out, and dug up from CBS archives, the photo, if you haven’t noticed, is not Manny Ramirez. It’s Johnny...

In brief: a taste of winning yet to come

Ryan Ludwick laying off a ball outside.Last game The Reds were winners again yesterday, taking down the Padres 3-7. Mike Leake did the starting for the team and had a good outing: 1 run on 5 hits in 6.0 innings. Ryan Ludwick came through big time with a 3-run homer in the seventh inning to break the 1-1 tie and give the Reds a lead they wouldn’t lose. Joey Votto also his a home...

30-1 MLB countdown previews: #3 Reds

The Cincinnati Reds remind me of the 2007-2008 Philadelphia Phillies. A team that has been ready to win for a couple years; the only difference: they won a division title in 2010 in addition to their NL Central crown last season. Attention has shifted to teams such as Washington and Los Angeles, as well as the World Series Champion Giants and the Cardinals, who were in the NLCS for...

MESA, Ariz. (AP) -- Johnny Cueto pitched six shutout innings in a smooth warmup for opening day and Todd Fraizer homered to send the Cincinnati Reds to an 11-1 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night. Cubs starter Jeff Samardzija also had a good night in his final outing before the season opener. He gave up one run and five hits in five innings, striking out five. Cueto had...

Former Red Sox Manny Ramirez makes his Far East debut (VIDEO)

Nothing like finding a pic of any major leaguer with dredlocks and putting him on a sign. Sorry Johnny Cueto!  The 40 year old hitting sensation known simply as "Manny" made his debut last Wednesday in Taiwan, and his fans loved every minute of it. Manny Ramirez hit two singles in front of 20,000 fans in a 9-8 Rhinos loss to the Brother Elephants. Manny is using...

2013 Reds' Record Prediction, Roster, Lineup, Etc.

The Cincinnati Reds won a whopping 97 games last year and expectations are even higher entering the 2013 season. While I have no doubt the Reds are a better team, I don’t think they’ll reach their win total of last season. A lot went right for them during the 2012 regular season when they didn’t have a starting pitcher miss a start and their run-differential of plus...

NCB MLB Preview–NL Central

We continue our MLB previews today by moving into the Central divisions, beginning with the NL.  Full disclosure:  I am a diehard Cardinals fan, and therefore also a Cubs hater, but I’m going to do my best to stay as objective as possible here.  Here we go: Cincinnati Reds Notable offseason additions:  Shin-Soo Choo Notable The post NCB MLB Preview–NL Central appeared first...

Manny Ramirez's Taiwanese debut was a circus

Last month, we brought you the news of former Indians, Red Sox, and Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez signing with the EDA Rhinos in Taiwan. Well, Ramirez made his debut with the Rhinos on Wednesday night, and Busted Coverage broke down the bizarre scenario that unfolded. First off, as you can tell in the above picture, fans were clearly excited to see Ramirez. The problem is...
