After every series, we'll take stock of how each individual and group performance affects their overall value.

Offense

Mike Aviles: Mike redeemed his 0-for-4 game 1 with a 2-for-4, 2 RBI game 2. His average is still hovering around that .260 mark. His defense has been stellar to make up for the not-so-great average.

Dustin Pedroia: Pedey didn't do much in the series. 1-for-7 with a walk has dropped him to .311 from .319. He'll rebound.

David Ortiz: Papi went 3-for-7 with a homer and 2 RBI in the series. He is currently riding a 6-game hit streak into the Rays series.

Adrian Gonzalez: I know he only had 1 hit in the series, but his bat is coming around. I like his approach at the plate and his average will be over .300 very soon.

Will Middlebrooks: He is coming back to reality with his average down to .300. He is still producing but not at the rate of a week ago.

Cody Ross: Nothing special from Ross. He did only strike out once in 8 plate appearances which is a plus.

Jarrod Saltalamachhia/Kelly Shoppach: They were both very good in their starts against Seattle. Each went 2-for-4, and one of Shoppach's hits was the blast to left field for his first home run of the season.

Daniel Nava: Nava has put up some ridiculous numbers since being called up from Pawtucket. Nava hit a homer in the first game and recorded a hit in the second game. In 6 games and 15 at-bats, Nava 8 hits, 4 doubles, 1 home run. 6 RBI, 6 walks, a .533 batting average, and an OPS of 1.708. Those numbers will come down eventually, let's hope not soon.

Ryan Sweeney: 0-for-5 from the top spot is not acceptable. At least it had no effect on the rest of the lineup.

Marlon Byrd: Not a bad showing from Byrd in the first game. 1-for-3 with an RBI is pretty good. I'm waiting for the Byrd break-out game that will probably never happen.

Starting Pitching

Lester pitched a great complete game, giving up only 1 run and giving the pen a rest. Beckett continued the great starting pitching with his 7-inning gem. I like everything I am seeing from the starting rotation.

Bullpen

There was no work on Monday, which was a nice, deserving break. Rich Hill and Alfredo Aceves pitched a perfect 8th and 9th on Tuesday, continuing the solid pitching from the pen.

Managing

I don't know what to think of Bobby Valentine anymore.

Overall

The Sox played great all-around baseball. Everything continued to click from the second game of the Indians series, giving them great momentum into Tampa.
