Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon likes to have fun. He keeps as loose a clubhouse as there is in baseball. For roadtrips he’ll throw out themes that call for the players to alter their normal wardrobe. This time around they geeked out on their trip to Boston. Their aim – to pay tribute to FOX’s senior baseball writer Ken Rosenthal and his charities. Rosenthal is known for his bowties. Along with dressing up, the Rays will make a donation to charities that Rosenthal supports. The Rays currently sit at 27-18, one game behind the Orioles for first place in the AL East. There’s no debate that Maddon’s loose demeanor has played a large role in the Rays success over the past handful of years. Overzealous Fan at Fenway Park Snaps Camera Phone Picture of Joe Maddon From Mere Inches Away (Photo)

Joe Maddon and the Rays are getting up close and personal with the fans at Fenway Park while visiting this Memorial Day weekend. One fan, who must have been really looking forward to seeing the Rays manager, wasted no time in nabbing a pic for their phone during the second inning of Friday's game. Madden looked none too thrilled about the development. The NESN cameras caught...

Rays dress as nerds, wear bow ties to honor Ken Rosenthal (Pictures)

The Rays traveled to Boston on Thursday and wore costumes on their road trip as usual. But this themed road trip was different from their others — it was a tribute to a baseball reporter. The Rays dressed as nerds to honor FOX Sports MLB reporter Ken Rosenthal, who wears bow ties for charity while reporting on FOX Saturday MLB telecasts. Like usual, manager Joe Maddon came up...

Red Sox fan sticks camera phone in Joe Maddon's face (Video)

On Friday night at Fenway Park, a Boston Red Sox fan sitting next to the visiting dugout snapped some pictures of Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon during the top of the second inning. Normally there's nothing wrong with that, except that Maddon was standing right next to the fan on the top step of the dugout. The fan had no shame in using the opportunity to stick his...

Your Morning Dump... Where Maddon's panties are in a bunch

Every morning, we compile the links of the day and dump them here... highlighting the big storyline. Because there's nothing quite as satisfying as a good morning dump. “Trust me, it’s not us,’’ Maddon said. “I have no idea on their side, but just watching the video, the people that were incensed, obviously they’re the ones that were probably behind the effort...

Rays skipper Maddon has the 'it' factor

He is the "it" manager in baseball, the most innovative, most interesting and one of the most successful. The Rays' Joe Maddon writes lineups with obscure journeymen batting cleanup. Builds quality bullpens with unheralded relievers. Shifts his infielders with such manic zeal, it's as if he can't stand to see the same defensive alignment twice. Yet, for all...

Joe Maddon calls out Red Sox after brawl, calls it a ‘cowardly’ move

With the Red Sox having floated around a .500 record the entire season and yet to climb into the A.L. East race, Boston fans have been patiently waiting for a little excitement in their lives. Those who were in attendance at Fenway Park Friday night to watch the Red Sox take on the Rays got exactly that, as the division rivals cleared their benches in the ninth inning of Tampa...

The Tampa Bay Rays Are Superheroes

I love the Tampa Bay Rays. I've said it plenty of times, if I weren't a Red Sox fan I would root for the Rays. I love how the organization is run, I adore Joe Maddon and the team is built on a combination of speed, young talent, and power arms; my ideal franchise! No team has more fun than the Rays too, and it is all thanks to the leadership of Joe Maddon and the winning...

Joe Maddon Annoyed With Red Sox Following Bench-Clearing Scuffle, Wonders 'Who Put Out the Hit' (Audio)

Things got a little chippy at Fenway on Friday night, and the frustration was obvious in the Rays clubhouse following the game. Rays manager Joe Maddon was upset at what transpired in the ninth inning, when Red Sox reliever Franklin Morales drilled Luke Scott after firing a pitch behind him earlier in the at-bat. "I didn't understand the situation whatsoever," Maddon...

Rays manager Joe Maddon “We will respond, I promise you that.”

Things keep getting more and more interesting between the Boston Red Sox and the Tampa Bay Devil Rays. As everybody knows, Franklin Morales beaned Luke Scott with a pitch in the 9th inning last night which caused an entertaining, benches clearing skirmish. There has been a lot of bad blood between the two teams this year, and in previous years as well. In the Red Sox last series...

Carl Crawford, Kelly Shoppach Enjoyed Joe Maddon's Road Outfit Costumes, Loved Miami Vice Attire

When the Rays travel to Boston, they'll be in full-blown nerd mode. Since taking over Tampa Bay in 2006, manager Joe Maddon has organized road trips with quirky themes. This time around, the Rays will pay homage to FOX reporter Ken Rosenthal by dressing up with bowties in nerd attire. In recent years, the Rays have donned pajamas, cowboy clothing, hockey jerseys and golf garments...

Adam Jones, O's on verge of long-term extension

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal and Jon Morosi are reporting on Twitter that the Baltimore Orioles are close to inking outfielder Adam Jones to a long-term deal. While the terms of the deal are not known, Rosenthal believes that they will be "well north" of the free agent deal Miguel Tejada (6 years, $72 million) and Nick Markakis (6 years, $66.1 million) signed. Jones is...

Rays' Pena responds to move to leadoff slot

First baseman Carlos Pena thought it was a joke when he first saw his name in the leadoff slot in the Rays lineup. But manager Joe Maddon wanted to change the mindset of his slumping slugger, and it seemed to work as he hit a massive three-run homer, estimated at 452 feet, in the five-run fourth of an 8-5 win over Toronto. "It's just about a mind-set," Maddon said...
