Reports this afternoon state that the Tampa Bay Rays are close to working out a trade for SS Jason Bartlett to the Baltimore Orioles. Bartlett is one of the Tampa bay Rays players rumored to be on the trading block for several weeks now, and a trade of Bartlett would free up $5,000,000 dollars of salary space as the Rays seek to reduce payroll. The rumored trade would send Bartlett to the Orioles in exchange for OF Nolan Reimold. Reimold is 26, 6’4″ 205 pounds, and bats right handed. Reimold has not played an entire season in the majors as he shared time between the Orioles and their farm system over the past few seasons. While in the Orioles farm system, the left fielder spent time trying to learn how to play first base.Reimold was selected in the second round of the 2005 MLB draft (61st overall) With the progression of Reid Brignac, the Rays feel he is ready to assume the everyday duties of being a full-time shortstop for the Rays and that makes Bartlett and his salary...
