New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira expects to be back in the lineup Saturday against the host Baltimore Orioles, according to ESPNNewYork.com. Teixeira missed his 10th straight game Friday with a strained left calf. The first baseman said he could play Friday but the team decided to leave him out to be cautious. Manager Joe Girardi said Teixeira would play Saturday. "If I don't play on (Saturday,) we are going to have a lot of conversations," Teixeira said. "Today, I said, 'Whatever you guys (Girardi and trainer Steve Donohue) think is best.' I definitely want to play (Saturday)." Steve Pearce started at first base for the Yankees on Friday. Teixiera is batting .255 with 23 home runs and a team-best 81 RBI in 119 games. Teixeira strained his calf Aug. 27 while running out of the batter's box on a foul ball. He ended up walking and scoring, making the injury worse. "Everything feels really good," Teixeira said.

Mark Teixeira's Horrible Decision to Slide Into First Rewarded by Bad Karma From Baseball Gods (Video)

Mark Teixeira is 6-foot-3 and weighs 220 pounds. He's coming off of a calf injury.
