The Reds will be without left fielder and clean-up hitter Ryan Ludwick for a while, as the club announced Tuesday that they will place him on the 15-day disabled list. A corresponding move will be announced prior to Wednesday's Opening Night game against the Angels.
Ludwick is slated to undergo surgery on Wednesday to repair torn cartilage in his right shoulder. The 34-year...
Here is the Louisville Bats official roster, at least as of 10am this morning when the Bats sent it out.
Wilkin De La Rosa
Ryan Ludwick dislocated his shoulder yesterday. That is certainly a different injury than a separated shoulder. The injury is almost guaranteed to lead to a trip to the DL for Ludwick, the question is how long. I have been asked several times in the three hours since the injury was announced, so I will just address it here.
No matter how long of a trip Ludwick is expected to see...
Reds outfielder Ryan Ludwick tore cartilage in his right shoulder while sliding into third base during the season opener and will need surgery, leaving the defending NL Central champions without one of their main run producers for an uncertain period.
The team didn't project how long Ludwick will be out.

CINCINNATI (AP) -- The Reds made their final bullpen moves on Sunday, sending right-handed relievers Logan Ondrusek and Jose Arredondo to the minors.
Ondrusek, who struggled with his control during spring training, was optioned to Double-A Pensacola. Arredondo, who appeared in 66 games last season, was sent outright to Triple-A Louisville. The Reds chose to keep left-hander Manny...
CINCINNATI (AP) -- The defending NL Central champions are hoping that their extra-long opening day loss doesn't affect their lineup well into the season.
Left fielder Ryan Ludwick dislocated his right shoulder during a 3-1, 13-inning loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Monday, giving them a big worry only one game into the season.
Ludwick's hand stuck in the dirt on his headfirst...

Brandon Phillips hit a three-run homer in his new role as Cincinnati's cleanup hitter, and Joey Votto drove in the winning run with a ninth-inning single Wednesday night, rallying the Reds to a 5-4 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.
They've split the first two games of the first interleague series to open a season.
Votto's first hit of the season off left-hander Scott...
CINCINNATI (AP) -- Opening Day in Cincinnati is about much more than baseball.
It's a holiday that dates to the late 19th century that's celebrated with a colorful parade that winds through downtown and elaborate pregame ceremonies on the field. People with or without game tickets flock to street parties, tailgating gatherings and park picnics.
There's usually an amnesty...
Jon Niese (SD, MIA)
Niese quietly assembled a sound 2012 campaign in his third full season in the Bigs, with a 3.40 ERA and 1.17 WHIP in over 190 innings. Don't be concerned with his 3.74 ERA at home, as Niese's 1.12 WHIP illustrates the 26-year-old was better than believed in Flushing Meadows. Though Niese's .272 BABIP gives pause on his ability to...
