Found November 21, 2013 on We Talk Fantasy Sports:
Last night the Texas Rangers traded Ian Kinsler to the Detroit Tigers for Prince Fielder and $30 mil.  While on paper the trade makes perfect baseball sense, and money cents, the Tigers will miss Prince Fielder protecting Miguel Cabrera.  It is no coincidence that Miggy's two best seasons in the MLB have come with Prince Fielder hitting behind him in the lineup.  Cabrera walked 108 times the season before Fielder arrived, and just 156 times in the last two seasons.  Let's be serious though, Miguel Cabrera will be fine, but the Detroit Tigers offense is going to look VERY different this coming season.Ian Kinsler is going to be knocked down my 2B rankings for 2014 Fantasy Baseball as he has hit just .231 on the road over the last 3 seasons, compared to .294 at hitter friendly Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.  On top of that, he has just 9 hits in 54 ABs in Comerica Park over the last 3 seasons.  I understand why the Tigers would make such a move, but I think they went after the wrong player.Prince Fielder lasted just two seasons in Detroit after signing a 9 year $214 mil deal, but during that time, only Miguel Cabrera and Chris Davis have driven in more runs, he is top 10 in walks, 12th in hits, his 55 home runs are good for 17th in all of baseball and his 69 doubles sits him 20th.  On top of those numbers, Fielder never missed a single game.  Fielder in Texas means a boost in power numbers, Mitch Moreland moves to the OF or plays DH, and Jurikson Profar will most likely be the Rangers starting 2B, unless of course Robinson Cano is signed.  However the Rangers construct their roster this offseason, swapping Fielder for Kinsler makes them better.

Texas shipped out long time second baseman Ian Kinsler to Detroit in exchange for the power hitting 29 year-old first baseman and $30 million in cash. Prince enters Arlington with $168 million remaining on his contract...

Fielder happy for fresh start with Rangers

Prince Fielder seems like a perfect fit for the Texas Rangers and Rangers Ballpark. The newest Ranger is hoping that's the case at least after he was dealt by Detroit to the Rangers Wednesday for second baseman Ian Kinsler. Fielder had to waive his no-trade clause for the deal to happen and had no problem doing it for Texas. He said he wasn't completely surprised by the...

The Detroit Tigers and the Texas Rangers have agreed to a deal that would send Prince Fielder to the Rangers for second baseman Ian Kinsler. Both players would have to pass physicals. Since there is a significant amount of cash in the deal the Commissioner’s Office will have to approve the transaction. Kinsler is due $62 million over the next four years while Fielder is due $168...

Prince Fielder Headed to the Texas Rangers

If there was one thing the Texas Rangers lacked last season it was pop. With Josh Hamilton gone (officially; his bat checked out midway through the '12 season) and Nelson Cruz suspended the offense did lose some sizzle. With a lot of young pitching last season the last thing the team needed was inconsistent offense. It appears that they will be breathing some life into before...

Impact Of Fielder Trade On Napoli And Ellsbury

(Getty Images)The blockbuster trade that sent Prince Fielder to Texas and Ian Kinsler to Detroit is not just an isolated swap between extra-divisional rivals. The transaction is likely to have an impact on the Red Sox in many different ways. First, the market for first baseman Mike Napoli has now shrunk—as Texas no longer needs to fill that spot. Since Detroit will likely move...

Prince Fielder, Ian Kinsler Talk Trades in 2010 Commercial (Video)

The Rangers and Tigers pulled off the first blockbuster trade of the offseason on Wednesday, swapping second baseman Ian Kinsler for slugger Prince Fielder and a bundle of cash. It’s not the first time the two All-Stars have been mentioned in trade talks, however. In 2010, back when Fielder was still a member of the Brewers, the two starred in a commercial for ESPN’s Sunday Night...

In the wake of the Prince Fielder for Ian Kinsler trade, Tigers team president and general manager gave a conference call to the local media. Here is some of the highlights on what he had to say. Rangers Move Pieces Around; Outcome To Be Determined

The Rangers traded Ian Kinsler for Prince Fielder. You know this already. I’ve already written a post about this trade, in fact, detailing why I love this deal for the Tigers. If baseball trading were a zero sum game, this would mean that I hate this move for the Rangers, since a big win would have to be offset by a big loss on the other side. But baseball trades are not a...

Everything Is Bigger In Texas, Even Their First Baseman

You know who I feel bad for? The eight other Tigers that have to sit on the other side of the bench now to balance out Miggy so the bench-seesaw doesn't topple. Prince Fielder was sent to the Tigers for a Player to be Named Later. The later was about thirty seconds when the Rangers said they would send Ian Kinsler. What? Someone had to offer a guy first. Okay, maybe it was...
