T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com says the Texas Rangers are getting “much trade interest” in their young first baseman Chris Davis. One of the teams that has shown interest are the Boston Red Sox. Davis, currently in Triple-A Oklahoma City, is 6-for-16 with seven RBIs in five games since being sent down at the beginning of August. He is hitting .355 with 10 home runs and 63 RBIs in 72 overall games there. His stats at the big league level could use some work. He hit .188 with no home runs and three RBIs in 31 games this season with the Major League club. Sullivan adds that it is doubtful that the Rangers will do something now that players have to clear waivers to be traded. Davis is unlikely to get through waivers without being claimed. He could be a topic of off-season trade rumors if Mitch Moreland could convince the club the he is the long-term everyday first baseman.
