Found May 05, 2013 on Baseball Hot Corner:
Last offseason, the Texas Rangers lost several key players, including Mike Napoli. Napoli was the starting catcher for the Rangers for 2 seasons. He now is the first baseman for the Boston Red Sox in the American League East.  Napoli is off to a hot start,  batting .270 with 6 long balls and 31 RBIs. Napoli said that he loved playing with the Rangers and he made some good friends. This past weekend  the top Red Sox and Rangers played a three  game series at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Napoli did not get booed by the fans like Josh Hamilton did. During his first trip Arlington since being in a Red Sox uniform, Napoli only got one hit and he struck out  four times. He did not hit a home run or collect an RBI. His batting average went from .283 to .270 and his trip to Arlington was miserable. The Rangers swept the Red Sox in three games. They are tied with them for the best record in the majors at 20-11. I cannot wait to see these two teams play again. They play each other again duri...

Recap: DREWWWWWWWWWW leads Sox past Twins

That wasn't boos in Fenway. That was DREWWWWWWWWW.  Stephen Drew has his best night in a Red Sox uniform and it was capped off with a wall ball double in the 11th to bring in the winning run and end the three-game losing streak with a 6-5 victory over the Minnesota Twins. Drew went 4-for-5 with 3 RBI's.  All of this could have been avoided had Joel Hanrahan closed out...

Red Sox Struggle on Offense Against Rangers, Remain Confident in Team to Close Out Series (Video)

The Red Sox have dropped the first two games in a three-game series with the Texas Rangers, and the Rangers have held the typically powerful Boston offense to just one run in two games. The Rangers have had their way with the Sox thus far, but third baseman Will Middlebrooks is confident his team will be able to get back in their groove on Sunday and close out the series with a...

Andrew Bailey will have an MRI on his right bicep when the Red Sox return to Boston on Monday.Bailey first felt the injury on April 28 while pitching against the Astros, and hasn't pitched since. Sox skipper John Farrell commented on his pitcher's injury today; "He's got an exam scheduled for tomorrow morning as much to give him some peace of mind in what he'...

Andrew Bailey Still Feeling Discomfort in Biceps, ‘Very Frustrated’ About Current Injury Situation

Andrew Bailey has stated all along that staying healthy for the entire season is his top priority. He’s now dealing with biceps soreness, though, and the reliever isn’t happy about the current situation. Bailey’s injury was revealed following the Red Sox’ 3-1 win over the Blue Jays on Thursday. Joel Hanrahan pitched the ninth inning of that contest to earn the save, which...

Joel Hanrahan Exits Red Sox Game With Right Forearm Tightness After Blowing Save

Joel Hanrahan had injury added to insult on Monday night, after the Red Sox reliever exited the team’s game against the Twins with right forearm tightness after giving up a game-tying home run in the ninth inning. With the Red Sox leading 5-4, Hanrahan surrendered a home run to left field off the bat of Brian Dozier. Two batters later, he missed badly on a pitch to Josh Willingham and...

Running Through Streets of Boston Felt ‘Peaceful’ During 4th Annual Run to Home Base Event (Video)

Boston runners took to the streets on Saturday in the first big run since the 2013 Boston Marathon. The 4th Annual Run to Home Base 9K brought the city together once again and proved that its residents are, indeed, Boston Strong. Thousands of people crossed the finish line of the race at Fenway Park in support of the Red Sox Foundation and the Massachusetts General Hospital Home...

Dustin Pedroia's quiet storm

So far this season there hasn't been much of a laser show for the Boston Red Sox coming off the bat of their second baseman Dustin Pedroia. While Pedroia's power numbers are way down almost to the point of non-existence, he is still producing for the Sox just in other ways. Not unlike any other year Pedroia's defense is stellar and it's not like hes in any sort of...

Joel Hanrahan Leaves Game with Forearm Tightness

Joel Hanrahan's career as Boston Red Sox closer took a turn for the worse last night, as the flamethrower left last night's game against the Minnesota Twins not only having given up the lead on a game tying solo home run to Brian Dozier, but also experiencing tightness in his right forearm. Hanrahan mentioned that he: ...felt a little pull, like my forearm went a little...

Jon Lester Accepts Responsibility for Rangers Edging Their Way Back Into Game 3 of Red Sox Sweep (Video)

The Red Sox were swept in a series for the first time this season by the Texas Rangers, halting the positive momentum the Sox had been building throughout April. Starter Jon Lester pitched six innings in the loss, and despite his offense giving him a considerable cushion, was unable to stave off the Rangers as they tied things up in the sixth. Lester admitted after the game that...

Red Sox-Rangers Live: Jon Lester, Yu Darvish Ready for Battle of Aces in Series Finale

12:30 p.m.: Will Middlebrooks has really been struggling, both in the field and at the plate. The Red Sox third baseman will be given the day off on Sunday. Middlebrooks is 3-for-19 on Boston’s current road trip, which negates the strides he appeared to be making at the plate toward the tail end of the team’s recent homestand. Making matters worse is that Middlebrooks made an...

Are the Sox for real?

If you are like me, you are ecstatic about the Red Sox turnaround from last year to this year. But, if you're like me, you're wondering "When will something start to go wrong?" I'm 22 and I've been a fan since the young age of 6 (or 7, I can never remember which), well before 2004 and 2007, so 2011 was nothing new for me. Still, I'm keeping it in the...
