When Adrian Beltre launched a massive home run into the left field stands in the bottom of the ninth of a 1-1 game Wednesday night, the Texas Rangers made a bit of history. They became the first team to win three straight games with a walk-off home run since 1999. Beltre’s blast gave the Rangers a 2-1 win and a sweep over the visiting Los Angeles Angels, all three wins of that sweep came on game-winning home runs. On Monday night the Rangers entered the bottom of the ninth trailing 3-2, but catcher A.J. Pierzynski hit a game-tying home run to lead off the inning. Then with two outs, Geovany Soto put one just inside the foul pole to give them a 4-3 win. Both home runs came off Angels closer Ernesto Frieri. On Tuesday night the Texas trailed 11-10 entering the bottom of the ninth, but again rallied off Frieri to tie the game and send it to extra innings. In the Bottom of the 10th with runners on second and third and one out, Leonys Martin lined a ball that snuck over the wall in the left field corner to give the Rangers a 14-11 win. On Wednesday night Beltre led off the bottom of the ninth inning in a 1-1 tie and blasted a 2-2 pitch from Michael Kohn 413 feet into the left field bleachers. That set off a raucous celebration in Arlington. A video that includes all three walk-off blasts is below: With Wednesday night’s win, the Rangers are now 59-49 and sit four games behind the Oakland A’s for first place in the American League West. They are also just a half-game out of the wild card race.
